À propos de cet audio

Are churches looking for the wrong kind of leaders? The last decade has witnessed a rising number of churches wrecked by spiritual abuse—harsh, heavy-handed, domineering behavior from those in a position of spiritual authority. And high-profile cases are only a small portion of this widespread problem. Behind the scenes are many more cases of spiritual abuse that we will never hear about. Victims suffer in silence, not knowing where to turn.

Of course, most pastors and leaders are godly, wonderful people who don't abuse their sheep. They shepherd their flocks gently and patiently. But we can't ignore the growing number who do not. We have tolerated and even celebrated the kind of leaders Jesus warned us against.

We need gentle shepherds now more than ever, and in Bully Pulpit, seminary president and biblical scholar Michael J. Kruger offers a unique perspective for both church leaders and church members on the problem of spiritual abuse, how to spot it, and how to handle it in the church.

"Every Christian from pulpit to pew needs to read this wise and timely work."—Karen Swallow Prior

"Both urgent and timely."—Sam Storms

"Thoughtful, wise, and biblical."—Mark Vroegop

The issue with "Predator Pastors" is a real one. One of my personal mentors described his job as a pastor as "80% of my time I find myself undoing the damage done to people by other pastors." This does not mean that 80% of pastors are evil, as most pastors are genuine and good people. But it does mean that the damage evil pastors do is significant and lasting, making the exploration of this subject a necessity for church leaders.

However, this book did not turn out to be that. This book seemed to be a thinly-veiled focused attack on Pastor Mark Driscoll, a controversial and very successful pastor with a very biblical message rooted in the Bible via the Evangelical church.

I have followed Pastor Mark from Canada for many years. I have not met the man, nor have I attended his church. But I certainly see how his message will ruffle the feathers of evil overlords and their camouflaged minions as Pastor Driscoll's message checks out biblically.

Like all humans, Pastor Mark has made mistakes that have been amplified due to his very large public profile. While we all may have opinions on preachers, this book clearly puts Pastor Driscoll in its sights while ignoring, failing to mention or even refusing to discuss any of the most damaging pastors in history.

Another clue that this book is a sham is the authors fascination with Hollywood movie characters providing "Words of Wisdom". These characters include Gandalf, Yoda and others, whilst ignoring real and true Christian leaders whose words would be far more consequential that movie characters. Think it's a red flag to have so many references in a "Christian" book that come right out of satanic Hollyweird as opposed to words of wisdom that coincide with biblical teachings and Psalms.

As Pastor Mark Driscoll's compelling message reaches more people, like Charlie Kirk, Pastor Driscoll is becoming a target by the satanic forces of this world.

I will pray for Pastor Driscoll and his ministry, and that as he grows a successful ministry he strives to remain on the side of the Lord, humble with the money it generates. I will also pray that you the reader, have the wisdom, should you buy this book, to see through the thinly veiled purpose this book is seemingly written to serve. I also pray that if you read this book, you recognize the Hollyweird clues of influence that this book uses, and the author seems to immerse himself with. (You are the company you keep).

Truthfully, I see a lot of parallels between the ideology of the writer of this book and the US Democrat Party. There are loosely parallel talking points on women, race and other hot-button Democrat talking points. I find the example of using the tragic story of Derek Chauvin, a political prisoner who did his job as he was taught, to be indicative of the narrative of this book. (I'm a former police officer and completely understand the events, actions and political fallout that took place in the case of George Floyd, which completely contradicts the media narrative on the story.)

Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't waste my time and money on this garbage despite there being some valid points. (The best deceptions are mixed with some truth).

Thank you for taking the time to read this review. Blessings.
