Great writing, great mystery, and great narration. I wish Audible would get all of the Adam Sims narrations of Penny's books.

Louise Penny really outdoes herself with this novel in the series. She really does pull on every heart string and tug on each and every suspenseful nerve you might have. I couldn't wait to get to the end with this one.

I have loved the Inspector Gamache series, downloading book after book continuously.

Listening ahead I hear that the narrator has been changed for future books. Adam Sims developed these characters perfectly and hearing his voice portray them has been one of the highlights of listening.
Bury Your Dead was a complex, beautifully woven telling of two different plots. As always I enjoy Louise Penny’s imagination and the building of characters so we feel like we know them.
Unfortunately I am put off by the change on narrator, it’s like changing the lead in Broadway show and expecting no one to notice.
Why would they do that?!?!
I’ve enjoyed the series to date and if I choose to continue I will need to read the remainder, hopefully hearing Adam Sims voice the characters I’ve grown to love come off the pages.
To the library I go.

I’ve decided to read them in order, and recommend it. As an anglophone Quebecer I learned more about this history surrounding Quebec, and truly believe Penny does an exquisite job of capturing tensions, traits, etc., that are alive here. Really enjoyed the three plots at play. I’m biased as I’ve enjoyed all the books so far, but in this one I felt like I’ve started to get to know the main characters intimately. Onto the next! Bravo!

There are basically three (3) stories intertwined in this book. In an audio book, it's difficult to keep straight which story is being read. I suspect I'd find it easier to follow if I had read the print copy as it probably has visual indications when changing stories. Still always a good read and historical creativity.

Maybe Better to Actually Read

Louise Penny does not disappoint. Great follow up from the previous Inspector Gamache book. This book took the reader on an emotional roller coaster with a satisfying conclusion. In my opinion the only drawback was too much Samuel de Champlain & not enough 3 Pines.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Narration was excellent. I knew who is who by the changing voice of Adam Sims.
