CASTLES IN THEIR BONES has been on my TBR for a while, and I regret not reading it earlier. Not only are the characters interesting, but the story is complex and engaging, the ending is shocking, and the writing is strong. 

The story follows triplets as they are tasked with dismantling three separate kingdoms for their conqueror-empress and mother. 

Firstly, each of the triplets are great. Daphne is by the books and intelligent, Beatriz is bold and charming, and Sophronia is clever and sweet. Their distinct personalities make them excellent for their tasks and each sister feels different for her environment. The side characters and the husbands they are meant to marry and interact with are equally as opposite, making for engaging interactions.

While the plots are all different, they ultimately weave together and lead to a truly shocking ending. There is danger around every corner and I truly wonder what will come next. The world is light on its fantasy elements, allowing for immersion and creating high stakes. Sebastian’s writing is solid and I truly could not get enough of the story. I need book two ASAP and think I am going to be getting more of Sebastian’s books in the future!
