À propos de cet audio
Grandeur and opulence are everything in the famed New Orleans Garden District where pets are family and no bling is too big. Opening Furry Godmother, pet boutique and organic treat bakery, is Lacy Marie Crocker's dream come true - until the glitter gun used to make her Shih Tzu tutus becomes a murder weapon - and Lacy becomes public enemy number one.
Now detective Jack Oliver is hounding Lacy, and her Furry Godmother investor wants out before his name is tarnished by association. To make matters worse, a string of jewel heists with suspicious ties to the murder case has New Orleans residents on edge. To save her dream, Lacy must take a stand, put her keen eyes to work, and unravel what really happened at her shop that night. But can Lacy sniff out the killer cat burglar in time to get her tail-raising designs on the catwalk?
Witty and whimsical, Cat Got Your Diamonds, the first in a new cozy series by Julie Chase, will be the cat's meow for fans of Rita Mae Brown and Miranda James.

Brittany Pressley did a fantastic job of narrating this series. I'm glad she didn't effect a New Orleans drawl through the series, but she did an okay job at that, too, when it was used.
This was the first series in a while that was a fun escape for me, and with one I was sad to see end. Those who love cozy mysteries and cats will surely love this.
Fanstastic series for cozy mystery lovers!

THEN, a fundraising group of women is introduced, along with their rivals. The members of the first group each maintain their wealthy families’ Antebellum-created plantations, and call their rivals “sell-outs”. These “sell-outs” are those whose ancestors increased family wealth by selling inherited plantations at the end of the 1800s. There is ZERO mention of the very important fact that both group’s families are wealthy thanks to their forebearers’ ownership (and abuse) of other humans beings.
THEN we are introduced to an extremely important customer of the main character. Our protagonist’s handiwork MUST impress this customer, the woman who has the power to ruin or establish our main character’s business. Oh, by the way, the customer ordered the handiwork to wow attendees at an event very important to her: the next Daughters of the Confederacy party. Yup. The next big event of women who are so VERY racist that they’re fine with publicly displaying their allegiance to the values of white-supremacy, primarily the ownership of fellow human beings. (The Confederacy’s Constitution specifically states that the main reason for the Confederacy’s existence is a desire to continue to own other human beings even though the U.S. Federal Government said they can’t anymore.)
This book’s main character supports White Supremacy.
That’s where I stopped reading.
I’m really disgusted with Audible for being fine with promoting racism, especially this book’s insidious promotion of white supremacy.
(Oh, and, only 3 stars for the narrator, because her performance makes it hard for the listener to differentiate between some of the characters, especially men.)
Casual racism; sneakily white supremacist
