À propos de cet audio

A Warhammer 40,000 novel

Saint Celestine is one of the greatest heroes of the Dark Imperium, an immortal warrior who returns time and again, even when struck down by a foe, like the Emperor's avenging angel. But what happens when she dies and comes back? Prepare to find out.

Listen to it because
Andy Clark lays bare one of the greatest mysteries of Warhammer 40,000: the trials Saint Celestine must undergo in order to return from death....

The story
With her mighty wings spread wide and Ardent Blade aflame, Saint Celestine is the living embodiment of the God-Emperor’s wrath. Her halo blazes like a star upon the smog-wreathed, blood-soaked battlefields of the 41st Millennium; its holy light leading the faithful to victory time and time again. As heretics and daemons tear at her flesh, she calls down fires of retribution from on high to smite the wicked and unrighteous.

If she is to fall in battle, none should mourn as she is Celestine, the Living Saint, and death is her duty. Though it comes at a great cost. For each time she is slain, Saint Celestine finds herself trapped in a terrible realm of suffering and torment. There her faith in the God-Emperor will be put to the test so she may prove herself worthy of life once more.

Was a very forgettable story I doubt I will revisit, the Chaos warlord seemed interesting but was never developed and was basically just a random demon.

Had high hopes...

Awesome story. Predictable but in the best the best way possible. Instant recommandation for any Adepta sororitas and Astra militarum fans.

Great

Emma Gregory might just be one of the best narrators hands down. Listen to it for the great story or amazing performance either way you will enjoy.

Just a fantastic read

Really changed what I thought the St was, her character was real and so was the heresy going on. Taking place seemingly right after the fall of Cadia I recommend reading Cadia Stands before this one for the full effect of hope that she brings. Excellent voice acting she was good at sounding like a dude for the male characters.

By the Emperor that was good!

I loved Emma Gregory's voice but one of the two stories wasn't too exciting.
However you should read it if you want to know more about celestine herself.
You aren't missing out too much skipping this book

covers an important aspect but a little bland

I've been listening to a lot of 40k stories on Audible over the last couple years. "Celestine" is easily 8ne of the best. Andy Clark's take on Saint Celestine's presence on and off the battlefield is nearly perfect, and his portrayal of what she goes through between each "rebirth" is quite interesting. Emma Gregory's narration is also next to sublime. Her portrayal of the Living Saint was already perfect in the audio drama "Our Martyred Lady", and she only continues it here alongside additional supporting characters, all wonderfully voiced by her.
If you enjoy the traditional, dirty, "down in the battlefield" portrayal of Warhammer 40k, mixed with some more ethereal/dream-like segmenta, I cannot reccomend this audiobook enough. If it wasn't for work, I could have easily sat down for 7+ hours and listened to the entire book from start to finish.

One of the Best 40K Stories I've Ever Listened To

I enjoyed it overall, but the "beyond" sequences can slow down the pace. Worth a listen, but I don't see myself listening to it again.

Good overall

The half of the book dealing with struggles of Celestine and her journey to remake herself were fantastic. The voice Performance was easily one of the best and hopefully will see more of the actor.

However this is where the good ends, as the book is filled with horrible lore inaccuracies from the command structure to the idea that a Cadian guard was reading a book talking about the spawn of the warp. This goes even further when half of the book is an internal struggle of several characters with their faith which would have been acceptable if not for them loudly voicing it at a continuous pace that should have let to strict repreparations.

The tone of the conversation between everyone leads to no military structure at all, more of an open democracy with everyone's views equally respected and considered, things that are not even concepts in the 40k unvierse. Over all blandness of the book is so severe that even during what would be an epic battles you're left with no more excitement than the previous paragraphs that described the same vehicle for the fourth time.

A bland and lore inaccurate journey of faith

I listened to it, having never listened to a GW audio book. and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the story. the narrator did a great job adding to character voices with accents. it was immersive the way it was read. I rather enjoyed it.

I am not quite familiar with the Sisters of battle and their lore except from some videos here and there, so I listened to this as a newcomer and I was quite pleased. Emma Gregory delivers a spectacular performance not just as Celestine, but other characters too, notably a Nurgle demon, which threw me off guard and satisfied me a lot
Relatively simple, short and sweet plot that follows 2 perspectives, the material world and a sort of purgatory in which Celestine must delve into in order to get stronger and carry her eternal duty as a savior of mankind
Highly recommend!

An amazing introduction to a great 40k character
