Description

Gideon Caldwell is a less than successful indie author barely making ends meet in his crummy basement apartment in New Haven, Connecticut, when a beautiful woman mysteriously appears at his doorstep.

Beautiful, mysterious, AND naked....

And also in trouble.

Without much of a choice, Gideon’s life is forever changed. Cue sexy-psychic shifters babes, private military agents, hardass metal-vampire babes, government conspiracy, several shower scenes, epic fisticuffs, and even an artist-teleporter named Dorian Gray...who is also a total babe. It’s an epic ride you WON’T want to miss!

not sure why this is rated so high

These books make no sense, MC is just sittin there and a naked chick shows up so he decides "screw it" and heads off to fight the even government. Yea, that's pretty much the whole set up, and why do the girls need/want anything to do with him. So far as I can figure out they only reason they've given is that they can't drive and he can.

The writing/setup is not even remotely believable, the only real good thing so far is that the author can write a competent action scene. But his character development is stupid; at one point he specifically says Grace can't mimic voices, until *boom* now suddenly she can. It also bugs me that our MC "hero" has no problem with screwing over every person he runs into by having Grace mind control them to give them cars/money/etc... it's like this was written by at 10 year old that did realize that even if you make someone think they didn't have a car the bank isn't going to so you're screwing everyone you run into and you're the... good guy? As opposed to the "evil" government that took advantage of these people to force them do become super test subjects.

The people doing the audio are completely awesome though. Reading through this and not just laughing constantly at the ridiculous story is a sign of a true professional.

thank god I didn't waste a credit on this.

the writing is pretty bad and the characters are horrible people. the main character doesn't give a second thought for the collateral damage he causes. I cant believe they produced 6 audio books of this trash.

sadly extremely uninteresting

so I don't really know what to write here. I just finished the house of Dolls series at least up to book 4 and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked that book series. it was a little gritty there was some action all around good. previously I had sworn off Harmon Cooper forever because of " we could be heroes" that book is absolutely horrible. written by the same author is this book and the house of Dolls series. this book has an uninteresting unmotivated main character he makes very few decisions by himself he spends the entire book seemingly reacting. a great example would be a character from early anime tropes that gets dragged into a harem and spin to the entire anime series reacting to the harem and their shenanigans. I had high hopes because of house with dolls but this is just boring. The writing is okay the reader is okay but the story Jesus Christ the story is horrible it's just boring man I'm sorry good luck maybe this is for some people I mean a lot of people seem to like it but it's very boring.

fun read

really enjoyed the run and gun the main characters had to do as well as the stats, though gideon's intermonolges could get annoying I enjoyed all three books.

premise is awesome, but personally I think it could have been better, soundbooth theater as always did a great job. Couldn't get thru the 1st book even with their help.

So glad I listened to this story

Man, this is a great story.Gideon is living a life that many men dream of. The screens with Angel in the third book had me rolling in laughter. I love listening to a book which has female narrators providing the voices of female charaters.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Sit back and enjoy an incredible journey. Gideon’s harem with a wide variety of personalities help him growth in confidence while always being ‘ the weakest link’ , but also being the glue that holds this group together through good time and bad

Soundbooth Theater

The story itself is great. I didnt like the semi-fourth-wall-break chapters of the first book but other than that its legit. Basically there is a harem so some sexy parts (no over explination of the sex scenes and its a "fade to black" before most of the sex scenes), there is super powers so fights and some moments of interesting uses of powers for every day situations, LitRPG elements so some stats and manipulation of stats and powers, and humor... however it is the narrator and the supporting cast and effects that make it better. book 3 is by far the one that had me laughing the most. lets just say it involves a backpack and a person with healing abilities; that part of the story is amplified by how the SBT performs it and makes it more hilarious.

if youre getting started in the LitRPG genre this is an AMAZING start. its not bogged down with stats every 2 minutes, it doesnt have long drawn out sex scenes that over explain to where you are saying "yeah yeah i get it" or worse a writer who uses the same word over and over... seriously some authors need to buy a thesaurus... this author doesnt have that problem when it comes to explaining a scene.

the only draw back to that is, if you really want 20 minutes of setting a scene because you lack imagination and NEED everything over explained, you wont like the lack of details in some parts.

overall an excellent book... i hate that books 6 and forward arent performed by SBT... but ill bitch about that when I get there. the sample clip i didnt like book 6 narration from that sample but we will see if it keeps me from buying it when i get there.
