Description

A Gay Retelling of Cinderella...

Trapped beyond the Wall, Finn and Rohan discover what they will sacrifice for one another.

King Rohan must seek aid from the cruel Fae to heal the mortally-wounded Finn. He and Serxio travel to the nearest settlement. But Rohan discovers they are not the only humans on the Fae side of the Wall. Countless of his people have been enslaved to serve his enemies. And Rohan and Serxio join them after being captured by slavers.

Now in the cradle of Fae territory, Finn’s magic grows and draws him into a dark dream where everything he thinks he knows about himself and his heritage is challenged. When he senses danger to Rohan, Finn escapes the dream and uses his magic to drain the land around him to restore his health.

Now Finn and Leonid must find a way to save Rohan and Serxio. With danger coming from a hostile land and even more hostile people, Finn must choose between hiding his Fae blood and saving Rohan.

Note: This novel series has cliff-hangers! Every book will end on one - that's my natural writing style. If you do not like cliff-hangers, wait until the whole series is published to read. Thanks for the support!

X. Aratare writes gay paranormal romance with witches, vampires, magic, and mystery. Though some books may venture into dark territory, they will all have happy endings.

what if Tolkien wrote Gay Romance? YOU GET THIS BEAUTY!

Characters are real, voice acting is AMAZING, story is at Times heartfelt, heartbreaking beautiful and funny. It’s Tolkien for a more modern audience but with all the stuff that makes such works TIMELESS.

Delightful fantasy

I loved the worldbuilding. my only criticism is that it the pacing seems a little off. The narration is dreamy and elegant which is needed for a story of such fantasy. We'll done!

about two hours longer than it needed to be

after the first book, I started the second with mediocre excitement. like the first, it really drags on sometimes. finn is still likeable and Rohan is still boring. I wish there was a little more darkness, a little less predictability of plot and characters? the reader knows who everyone is from the start so it's kind of painful to wait and wait and wait as the characters blunder along. one really annoying thing in this simple storytelling style of the author is how nobody ever just says something. they scoff, they cry, they shout, they declare, they laugh, they twitter! I waited each time a character said something for the awkward declaration of how it was said. if it was a drinking game, I'd have passed out 30min in. overall, this book was a struggle to get through at times, with the magical showdowns seeming like dungeon and dragons or pokemon (she used plasma, and he retaliated with ice! she used fire and electricity to strike again!) it's extremely simple and almost as if aimed at children, apart from the once per book sex scene. still, if you want background audio that's not mentally taxing, give it a go. for all my complaining, I've already paid for the next book.
