Description

so nice to see a paranormal romance novel that hits all the good spots and embraces LGBTQ+ without making it seem like it's being demonstratively gay (as in, their sexuality is this is a paranormal romance novel and the characters happen to be gay... vs a book that screams READ ME ITS ABOUT GAY PEOPLE. As a proud pansexual I always do a happy dance when characters are able to express their sexuality in a way that feels natural and is given as much attention as any other romance novel addresses heterosexuality.
beyond that, the story was fantastic and I found myself eager to get back into it to see what would happen next , the romance was engaging and hot af, and all of the characters felt real.

tween-style supernatural with smut
This story had it's pros and cons, with the pros bring a fun setting, easy to listen to, light on plot and heavier on character interactions which is great if you like character-focused stories. It's kind of similar to TV series Angel (mismatched bunch of humans and non-humans having demon hunting adventures while living together in a witty chatty household). In fact one of my complaints about the book is that the two main characters basically have the same name (Angel, D'Angelo) which I thought was going to have some grand reveal meaning but.. hasn't yet, hours and hours in. Maybe it means something later but with 4hrs left I'm not going to continue. There's just too much exposition, cringy dirty talk, some vague demon plot that needs foiling, and it's a bit like RP made into a novel. A fun light listen but not really engaging enough to finish even though the premise was enjoyable.
