À propos de cet audio

An unidentified woman is found murdered on the North Norfolk Coastal Path and newly promoted Detective Sergeant Kate Brannon and Kings Lynn's CID have the task of figuring out whom, how, and why. A job that's made more difficult when every one of the 40 residents in the village has something to hide and answers her questions with a string of lies.

Georgina Temple has her own secrets to keep, and her own reasons to keep them. But her growing attraction to Kate makes it increasingly difficult to keep them. Kate's investigation into the woman's death delves into the heart of the tiny fishing village where nothing and no one is quite what they seem.

Contains mature themes.

The most likely story element in this Andrea Bramhall tale to stick with you is the heavy-handed lesbian romance storyline.. which is unfortunate, because it overshadows a well-conceived and relatively well-delivered team-based investigation. Bramhall offers a capable screenplay-quality hyperrealistic case, but inexplicably has her Chief Investigator ('DS Kate Brannon') shamelessly flirting with a witness/suspect - and daydreaming about how "hot" she is - and just keeps hammering on that nail. If it were a male police officer ogling a female witness, there's no way this book would even be published. It was one of the most off-putting things that I have read in a while.

Fortuitously for audiobook aficionados: this is one of the better performances that I have heard from Henrietta Meire, though. She has persistent difficulties delivering male character interpretations.. but does quite a bit better on this project than on others that I've heard from her.

Altogether, I rate 'Collide-O-Scope' 5 stars out of 10. If you can get past the mindblowing ethical flaws in the protagonist, there's a pretty good Crime-Thriller there (admittedly, I got it for free.. but still..)
When it leaves the 'Plus' menu, however, keep browsing.

MINOR SPOILER BELOW:

I quite liked the innovation of having a character falsely believe that they were accidentally guilty of the murder even as the investigation proceeds. It sets up a unique conflicted witness dynamic
