À propos de cet audio

In the extraordinary World War tetralogy, set against the backdrop of World War II, Harry Turtledove, whom Publishers Weekly has called the "Hugo-winning master of alternate SF," wove an explosive saga of world powers locked in conflict against an enemy from the stars. Now he expands his magnificent epic into the volatile 1960s, when the space race is in its infancy and humanity must face its greatest challenge: alien colonization of planet Earth.

Yet even in the shadow of this inexorable foe, the United States, the Soviet Union, and Nazi Germany are unable to relinquish their hostilities and unite against a massive new wave of extraterrestrials. For all the countries of the world, this is the greatest threat of all. This time, the terrible price of defeat will be the conquest of our world and perhaps the extinction of the human race itself.

Ce que les critiques en disent

“[Turtledove] develops an exciting, often surprising, story that will not only delight his fans but will probably send newcomers back to the Worldwar saga to fill in the backstory.” ( Publishers Weekly, Starred Review)

I struggled with this initially. I think we all loved Todd McLaren a little too much for this series, and accepting a new voice actor wasn't easy.

Patrick struggled with the role in the early book but gained confidence & set characters voices in stone.

I realized were 20 years into the future here, of course everyone's going to sound different. if this were film we'd have new actors portraying them.

But once you sink into this story, you'll realize the new actor really captures the ethos of the characters we fell in love with

Personally, I really love this series, some of Turtledoves best work, And I think the Narrator did well.

I really liked it!

Factual and scholarly approach to the factuals by the author makes this and other books of the series a breath of the fresh air long forgotten with modern science fiction. I would make this a mandatory reading for younger generation, as although historically simplified and catered to the wider audience, the pictures of the second world war life stories are stunningly clear and very correct historically speaking. (with sci-fi elements peppered over the real people tragedies to keep the younger readers interested). Kudos, Mr Turtledove. Wish I could shake your hand and buy you a beer :-)

Truthful historical portraits of the story characters
