Description
First class petty officer Eric Randall is less than thrilled about taking orders to Okinawa. Three long, lonely years on a crappy island that's thousands of miles from his daughter? Oh. Yeah. Good book except for the jerk army bosses
I do tend to be biased against militaristic organizations but I’m not sure how or why bosses in the military think it is acceptable to degrade and humiliate their subordinates. Being a manager myself, I can’t ever imagine treating people who work for me like military people do. It seems ridiculous and overblown; if it’s realistic I think it’s appalling and if it’s hyperbole then it’s too much just for drama in a book. The rest of the story line is great and the performance is amazing as always.
