Description

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Jon Hamm as Fletch!

Offering up brisk, tightly written plots and a stellar cast of characters both new and old, Confess, Fletch finds our incorrigible protagonist back in deep waters once again.

Fletch, now newly engaged and happily living out his days in Italy, finds himself embroiled in yet another scandal. His soon-to-be father-in-law has been kidnapped and is now presumed dead, and the priceless collection of rare art that belongs to his fiancée’s family has been stolen.

Ever the investigative reporter, he receives a tip about the missing art that lands him in Boston, where he walks right into a murder scene in his apartment. What clearly looks like a setup to the unfazed Fletch looks quite different to the detective assigned to the case, Mr. Francis Xavier Flynn. But even if the case is seemingly cut-and-dry, Flynn is reluctant to arrest the only suspect that stands before him.

Now under the detective’s watchful eye, Fletch must try to clear his name and search for the missing paintings, all while his gorgeous future mother-in-law works to persuade him for help the best way she knows how—seduction.

Very fun!

I really enjoy this series. Although it is written in the 70’s? And detective work has changed. It is interesting and even charming.

More Than Adequate Follow-up

Gregory McDonald's fascinating 'Irwin Maurice "Fletch" Fletcher' returns to the United States from Europe in search of stolen art (once owned by his fiancée's missing father) - and finds himself the main suspect in a murder. The story is well-researched and delivered with McDonald's signature wit.. but Fletch is noticeably more moral/ethical - still shifting seamlessly into false identities and lying freely - but less of an a**hole. This story is noticeably weaker than the first entry in the series (both in plot and characterization).

Similarly, reader Dan John Miller turns in a performance of reduced quality - struggling with affected Italian and Irish accents somewhat, but otherwise impeccable. This book is again a great listening product courtesy of Blackstone Audio Inc.

Altogether, 'Confess, Fletch' merits 7.5 stars out of 10. It's good enough to prompt me to keep reading the series (particularly as it's free with my subscription). Even were they to ask for a Credit, it would be a reasonable investment.

not as good as the first novel

okay story. played out slowly. I don't think I've ever heard the word "divan" so often. did everyone have one of those in the 70s?

performer (reader) occasionally got a little Irish in his Italian accents, but still did a better job than I could
