Holly Forkner disappears. Upland, Arizona Chief of Police Troy Forkner, Holly's husband, scours the wilderness of northern Arizona, first by air then on the ground, looking for her. Officer Nina Miller believes the perpetrator had an accomplice who may be hiding Holly in a motor home at the Upland reservoir. Nina's partner, Rookie Officer Pike Tso, a Navajo Indian, believes Navajo spirits or skinwalkers may have abducted Holly. Sheriffs Deputy Thomas Justman takes advantage of the situation and implicates a loner Indian in Holly's disappearance. Meanwhile, J C Forkner, Troy's brother, is involved in another pool game wagering something substantial.
