The course while covering a wide array of murders and murder types was informative and a good launching point for someone interested in going for a more deep dive into infamous murders, and conspiracy murders.

Interesting. Not Much Of A Course.

University of Idaho professor of history Richard B. Spence provides a nice selction of 12 cases characterized - at some point - as "Crime Of The Century". Some (like the murder of a 1920s Hollywood producer) are actually pretty obscure. Others (like the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand) literally changed the world. The selection of cases is pretty random, Spence's comments on proposed "occult" motivations are noticeably prominent, and the presentation is generally disappointing. If I paid tuition to take this class in a University, I would be *furious*.

Spence reads sufficiently professionally - and The Learning Company/Great Courses provide exemplary technical support - but this presentation lacks the feeling of being in a classroom that most of these audiocourses provide. Spence is quite obviously reading printed text rather than lecturing. The appended PDF is likewise classy (full-color) & easy-to-read but unspectacular.

Altogether, this 4.5/10 star compendium of some interest-piquing True Crime cases is worth a listen if you can get it as a 'Plus' option. Unfortunately, you should not treat this as a "learning opportunity" by any means. Should they ask for a Credit, spend it elsewhere.
