Description
But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café - and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd.
But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him - for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she's so carefully created could shatter completely.
Just as Nell starts to wonder if she'll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers from a terrible curse - one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692.
Now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women - and the nightmares of the past haunting her every step - she must find the power to save her home, her love...and herself.

sounds too much like a computer
The story is wonderful. exactly what I would expect from Nora. The narration was awful when it came to the male characters. The voice made Zach sound very unmanly, hard to fall in love with. Mia was portrayed by her voice to be a very old woman. it was very frustrating to listen to. I want to listen to the rest of the series but am hesitant if it is the same narrator.

Voice actor is distracting
Ok so I don’t usually write reviews but I just have to on this occasion. There is no way this voice actor should portray a 20 something woman. The choice of actor was distracting from the story. All of the characters were supposed to be in their late 20’s however I spend the majority of the story picturing them as late 40 somethings. It was jarring each time age was established because the voice was so far from the image it sought to portray. The story was overall ok and I stuck it out for that purpose. I bought the book and the rest in this series as they were on sale but if it’s the same actress then I’ll just return them. As for the story I really didn’t like the zack character. Despite the author and other characters assertions that he was such an upstanding sensitive guy he was most certainly not. He was pushy and at time down right stalkerish in the way he pursued Nel. He kept forcing himself of her with unsolicited touches and his insistence on ignoring her clear wishes to not be pursued romantically. At times it was down right cringe worthy the way he manipulated nel into joining him at his place to get a plastic bag she did not want or need. The dynamic between them was almost that of superior and inferior like he was abusing his position of power and influence in the community to corral her into spending time with him and getting into a relationship with him. The book missed the mark on these two fronts I hope the next two do a better job.

Sweet Romance with a Touch of Magic
STORY - Dance Upon the Air reminds me a lot of the Julia Roberts movie Sleeping with the Enemy. Not the same, of course, but there are a lot of similarities. It is a small town contemporary romance that has an undertone of danger and a dabbling in witchcraft. The romance is engaging, and the impending danger will keep you on your toes. Nell and Zack are strong, smart, likeable characters, and I enjoyed hearing their relationship progress. As always, Nora Roberts' sex scenes are tastefully described but still very passionate. I enjoyed this book a lot, but I've gotten very stingey with my 4's and 5's so I've just rated it a 3.
NARRATOR - Good job but nothing special. Zack's voice was a bit nasally, but way better than a lot of men's voices done by women (and vice versa).
OVERALL - I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good "clean" romance. If you are looking for lots of hot sex, you should probably skip this one.

Good Romance, Not So Good Narration
Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I was not impressed with the narrator. She reads well, but her character voices are honestly terrible. Of the three lead women in their 20s, one sounds like a little girl, another like an old lady, and the third has a nasally voice that borders on whiny. The love interest of the main character has a wooden tone with no inflection in it whatsoever, and the few other men in the book all have the exact same voice. Listen to the sample for a long time before you decide to buy this one. However, the book itself is a good romantic fantasy, and after awhile, the story was strong enough to overshadow the weak narration.

Horrible Narrator
Don't really know if I could have enjoyed the story as I didn't get past the first 45 minutes. I just couldn't handle the narrator's voice anymore. I will never buy another book narrated by Sandra Burr.

Great story, Awful narration
This is one of my favorite series by NR and I was excited to listen to it for the first time on a long drive. The story is as good as I remember; unfortunately the narration was so bad that it was beyond being distracting and ruined the story for me. None of the character voices made sense for the characters being portrayed, the intonation was completely off, and I was not able to become immersed in the story at all. I had planned on purchasing the audio books for the other two novels in the series, but having barely made it through this one I looked up the narrator for the others... and it's Sandra Burr for all three. I will not be purchasing the other two. Really disappointing.

A couple of points don't ring true
I've read and listened to it his book many times over. Two things bother me. The first is the comments made by Zac when he finds out Nell is married. It is very sexist to regard a woman as belonging to a man. He knew she'd been abused and that she had left her abuser months earlier. He saw by her body language how afraid she was. This was the point for him to step in and talk to her about how he could help. My other beef is since Rip had practiced for many years it isn't realistic to have her calling magic bunkum. This is still a wonderful trilogy!

Lets stand together!
Nell makes you want to get out there and stand up for a cause - the book makes you want to move to a little island and find the solitude and friendlyness that might be waiting for you.
Having read this and the 2 others in the trilogy you feel as if becoming more in tune with nature and it's elements is something you really need to be doing - if only we could escape to this!
very well written and extremely well read! catches you from the word go!

Good book, but didn’t love the narrators voice.
Nora Roberts writes great books. I’ve probably read 10 or more book series of hers and This one didn’t disappoint. I’m new to audible so it was fun to just listen while being able to do other things. The reason I’m only giving 4 stars is because the narrators voice drove me a little crazy. I know it’s hard to do all of the voices in a book, but the main character voice she chose to do was very annoying.

Great fusion of the modern world and mythical.
The first book got me hooked! Entertaining with every chapter and at the end of it all, the audiobook doesn't leave you hanging on a cliff! But it did make me get the rest of the trilogy.
The reading was great too, loved the pace, fast when required other wise slow and calm. I enjoyed it hope you will too!
