À propos de cet audio
September 1909, and Lady Hardcastle and her maid, Florence, have been invited to Lord Riddlethorpe’s country estate for a week of motor racing and parties. They both agree that it sounds like a perfectly charming holiday. But when one of the drivers dies in a crash during the very first race, they discover that what seemed like an uncharacteristic error in judgement may have a more sinister explanation...
Closer investigation reveals that the driver’s car was sabotaged - and the driver murdered. The local constabulary are quick to dismiss the case, but Flo and Lady Hardcastle are determined to find out just who has committed this dastardly act, and why.
As the pair begin to make enquiries of Lord Riddlethorpe’s servants and guests, it seems that, below stairs and above, there is more to this case than meets the eye. And, even in the quiet of the countryside, death is always just around the bend.

The relationship between the two main characters is fun and most people in the stories seem friendly and charming even the villains at times. The author makes time to touch on some issues of class, feminism and other key topics but overall tends to leave it more light hearted.
The books do a great job in the backstory of the main characters in explaining the reason why they are so skilled. In addition one of the great secondary characters is a police officer that appreciates their capabilities and works with them at times to add some realism of why Lady Hardcastle and Flo are in these messes and able to help solve them.
The mysteries are done well but simple enough that it is not a huge stretch but also not taxing you on figuring them out. If you are looking for a big twist with awesome clues dropped through you will be a little disappointed. These are not great literary works, but are a great listen with excellent narration and good, fun characters that will make you want to come back for more.
A little cheesy but a ton of fun
