Getting tired

I am getting tired of the attitude of main characters you get the point you would like to smack them. I am also upset that they miss checking whom they talk to and IDs

Disappointing

The first two books in the 'Cavendish & Walker' series are imperfect but effective at delivering keep-you-guessing entertainment. Pleasingly, this entry continues Sally Rigby's pattern of capable writing, "decent" plotting, and character development efforts (many of which admittedly fall flat for me).
Unfortunately, some scenes in this one are uncharacteristically drawn out (parents identifying their child's body, for example), the character exposition for the protagonists ('George' & 'Whitney') is particularly klunky, and Rigby reveals the motivations for the murderer ⅓ of the way into the novel for some reason.. transforming the book into a straight "find-the-killer" procedural with few "mystery" elements (inadvertantly?).

Solidly on the "Pro" side of the Pro/Con ledger, however: Clare Corbett provides the best reading performance that I have heard from her. To be certain, she continues the occasional oddly cartoonish "husky" male character interpretations, but they aren't intrusive in this recording. Corbett is definitely a narrator that I will look for in future.

'Death Track' rates 6.5 stars out of 10. I won't personally be continuing with the series, but you wouldn't be crazy to do so. This installment was a serviceable distraction as part of the 'Plus' catalog - but unlikely to be worth a Credit should they ask for one.
