My inner dragon has always been more like a devil on my shoulder, talking me into making bad decisions and creating chaos. I thought accidentally becoming a mercenary was the worst mistake I would make in a single day… until I inadvertently mated myself to a demon. It's not my fault his mating ring was so pretty! All I have to do is fulfill my contract, not do anything else to make things worse, and avoid falling for the surprisingly sweet, himbo demon who thinks I'm his mate.

Etienne: Having another being in my head isn’t always the easiest to deal with. He’s loud, annoying, and is trying his hardest to keep me from looking at Leo, the sexy police officer who is currently hunting me down for illegal magic use. I’m not actually doing anything illegal, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use the occasional run-in with Leo to remind him just how much I like him (he’s being dramatic when he claims I tried killing him the last time we bumped into each other). After Leo dies and I bring him back, it becomes clear that the wrong person knows what I can do.

When I’m tossed into the trunk of a car, I realize that what little luck I have has finally run out—especially when I find that Tony, the man who’d abducted me, is planning on using me to get back at my father. My chances for escape look pretty bleak when I’m handcuffed to Tony’s bodyguard, an intimidating man named Shepherd who apparently loves tight shirts and seems to be amused by making my life miserable. Soon, though, I learn that Shepherd has a heart and a brain.

Ash is technically a fire mage, but he can't do much. Turning his bedroom lights on and off without having to get out of bed isn't exactly awe inspiring, not when anyone with the right gadget could clap and do the same thing. Worse, sometimes he senses something bigger and brighter lurking under his skin, and it feels so familiar he knows it has to be his magic, but then he burps or sneezes, and the feeling passes. So it's probably just allergies . . . or gas. Yeah . . . Not exactly brimming with magical oomph. Not anymore. It sucks.

Being a fierce predator - not at all adorable, despite my graceful stature - the last thing I needed was a bodyguard. Especially a wolf shifter, whose presence alone was an insult to my princely principles. As prince of the Ocelot Shifters, I prided myself on my infallible feline instincts, uncompromising dignity, and flawless fashion sense.
