Description

Book 2 of the Demon Accords.

It's been seven months since Chris Gordon met Tanya Demidova, and a lot has changed. He's stronger and faster and has the senses of a vampire and the appetite of a werewolf. But even as he settles into his new position with the Special Situations Squad and his relationship with Tanya, new threats appear. From south of the border, north of the city, inside the NYPD, and the federal government. But the hardest fight Chris will face is with himself. Sometimes the demon inside is the most dangerous!

It Only Gets Better

Would you listen to Demon Driven again? Why?

Yes. Simply put its just that d@mn good.

What did you like best about this story?

Having marathoned through the series I will say this is were things go from good to great.

This is the book were the series starts to form its identity.

The first book was good but it lack it's own signature style that made it stand out from the average "dude discovers the supernatural and falls in love with supernatural uber hot chick".

In this book we go into great detail about how "magic" works, who the main antagonists of the series are and other such things and having read a LOT of urban fantasy I can say this is one of the better lesser known series.

Which character – as performed by James Patrick Cronin – was your favorite?

Lydia mostly because of her banter with Chris.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book and will likely relisten to it multiple times.

The character interaction/banter is were most of the awesome humor lies and is easily my favorite part of the series.

I would recommend this book and the series as a whole to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy.

Once you start .... You won't put it down!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book and series. To find the first book of a series that is nonstop from start to finish and realize there are 7 more waiting in the wings so to speak is just AWSOME!!!

What did you like best about this story?

It is difficult to pick what is best of this story. It was a easy to keep reading until it was finished and then the panic of I need the next book... NOW!!!

Which scene was your favorite?

The confrontation with the Government is well done, and if such a person did exist the government reaction was believable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My reaction to this book was " there are only 6 books left " !!!!!!!

Any additional comments?

Thank you Audible for adding not just a first book in a series. Finding you have added 8 books in a series that wasn't there a day before is like Christmas for me. .

Great series. Just finished all available books...

I just finished reading this whole series, well all the books available. I have to say I truly enjoyed it it wasn't overly exciting but exciting enough with new characters to keep you interested. Now for me, it is hard to keep me interested in a series because I have read so many books. I don't know if I'd read a book or if it's just a repeat of something I've already read. And this was one of those books that I haven't come across yet. Yes there are vampire and werewolves and demons and witches all that stuff but it's the main character that kind of changes things.

One thing that almost made me stop reading this book was when I was closer to the end in the series and they change the character. They introduced a new character and made the next book about him and I didn't think I was going to like the book because of that at. Have to say they definitely made it interesting and it caught my attention in the next book after that was even better once you get to book 8 in book 9 you'll just want more. I hope they put book 10 and audio form so I don't have to read it again and I can just listen to it but it's great series I hope you enjoy. Definitely worth it.

Jumped the shark

Just too much power. There was just never any suspense because there was never any question who would win the day. Additionally, there really wasn't any sort of discernable story arc. Things just happened and kept happening.

Great story. Great narration.

This is a continuation of God Touched and is a great second story. The characters are interesting, the story is unique enough and not pandering. The narrator does a great job portraying the innocence of the main character while still being able to seem menacing. Highly recommend the series.

A Blatant Self-Rightous Power Trip.

There is a lot of annoying but swallowable annoyances. First the crappy attempt at linking the supernatural to pseudoscience. It was just so baaadly done imo. Then there is the stupid transmutation power. It was just a completely unnecessary addition that clearly existed to act as a golden screwdriver.

I could list many more but these standout. But where the book really fell apart was how it handled the overpoweredness of the main character and his allies. At first there seemed to be a possibly decent structure to contain the overpowered main character. The forces of hell. And at first the US government seemed to exist as a other check and balance to the main character though it was portrayed a bit too evilly. It seemed at first to be going the "one bad apple" route just to give the Main character and government an opportunity to contrast their power levels.

But then it started to become self-righteous and arrogant. I probably would have rated this book 2 stars even if the ending hadnt been tainted by obvious real life political partisanship. Because it boiled down to just proving that no force in the world could threaten the main character and his allies and that they could do whatever they wanted, but it was ok because he was "good" and that laws didnt apply to him, he just followed them as a courtesy. And they should be on their knees thanking him for even that you weak worthless human worms

This is like a bad superman story. Where a good superman story is often defined by Superman's humility, having him use his strength to pull others up as close to his level as possible.

A bad Superman story has Superman declaring no one but himself can be trusted with power. And using his strength to push everyone else far beneath him.

This book is like the latter story.

Okay but he's no Butcher

Conroe's writing style needs some maturation. Through two books his story is interesting but clearly lack the polish of a professional, his character development is weak and plot lines razor thin. This series has a young adult genre feel also that I find annoying.

Light, action packed and fun

Any additional comments?

Conroe's work seems tailored for audio books. He keeps it light, positive, fun. He manages to make you smile and does not get lost in unending fights or romantic moments. Looking for something to listen to while going at chores, driving or cleaning house? Look no further.

Gave up halfway

I made it halfway into this book before giving up. The author pulled the same bullshit "We can't be together coz reasons..." For like the fourth time in two books and the pattern became apparent. Since the series refuses to actually... progress except for the main character getting more powerful and complaining I gave up.
