À propos de cet audio
Rys awakes to the smell of blood and nearly two thousand years of dust.
Maybe he overslept a little too long. Once, he was a great champion and general in the demonic empire that ruled the world. Now, he’s been erased from history.
He’ll need to remind the world of the price of forgetfulness.
Now is the time to build his own empire, as the ancient powers of his time are long gone. Rys has an archipelago to conquer, women interested in extending their bloodline with him, and a mysterious labyrinth that holds the secret to why he was sealed away to begin with.
But a contract with Hell is eternal. His old employers want to turn him into their pawn, and Rys must become powerful enough to remain free.
That’s not a short to-do list. But half the fun of taking over the world is the challenge.
©2021 K.D. Robertson (P)2022 Podium AudioHaving read game of thrones and a number of other fantasy-like stories, this one just does not measure up to the more experienced reader/listener. Stephanie Savanah really tries her hardest to deliver a strong performance, too. But if this audiobook had a male narrator it would have gone a very long ways in making me forgive the dialogue. Stephanie has very few decent male-voices. Her protagonists always sound the same. Across all books she has done for K.D Robertson. Her female voices are great, however. She can really deliver a strong female performance, just not a strong male performance.
All in all, I think this book is okay, but I wouldn't say it's great. I really hope K.D considers working with a more varied list of narrators. Stephanie has her limits, and that goes for the vast majority of narrators out there. Having a single narrator with a cast of characters so varied really becomes a problem in the long-run.
Very rough dialogue.
