À propos de cet audio

On their way to Las Vegas for a pair of bachelor and bachelorette parties, Colton and Lacey run into some car trouble. They find shelter at Motel Ace, located in Middle-of-Nowhere, Nevada. They’re welcomed by a quiet clerk and they meet a cast of interesting travelers. They expect a quiet, romantic night at a dingy motel as they wait for the mechanic. Then they hear the screaming in the other rooms. Then they see the clowns outside. And those violent, deformed clowns want to come into their room to play….

In the blink of an eye, a peaceful night transforms into a battle for survival and a motel becomes a bloody battleground.

Jon Athan, the author of Cannibal Jungle and The Law of Retaliation, returns to his roots with this gruesome, suspenseful slasher novel inspired by the 2016 clown sightings. A "Do Not Disturb" sign can’t keep these clowns away!

Do not download this book expecting much of a plot. Jonathan Sixtos (nom de plume "Jon Athan") offers a genuinely sadistic riff on the odd wave of clown sightings across the United States in the summer of 2016. In Athan's imagination, psychopathic clowns (complete with billowing polka-dot outfits and huge shoes) capture and violently torture-murder random victims at an isolated Nevada motel for fun.
The writing is never going to win any awards, but it's at least screenplay-quality.. and the description is mind's-eye vivid - perhaps a bit *too* vivid [Athan revels in almost slow-motion - nearly nauseating - violence (e.g. a clown named 'Pumpkin' raping a girl with a rubber chicken - I'm not kidding - before scrubbing out an eye socket with a wire toothbrush while the girl screams and then crushing her skull with a sledgehammer as though trying to make a bell ring at the top of a carnival game)].

As to presentation: Harry Roger Williams III is to be commended for his dedication to the project - actually humming the little tunes that 'Gaggles' (one of the murderers) mutters while flaying & dismembering victims, for example. Less fortunately, he overenunciates, is over-the-top with some voice-acting, and mispronounces anatomic terms far too frequently for my tolerance (I'm a physician). After factoring in extraordinarily lazy sound editing (in chapters 11 & 14 in particular), I was disappointed with sound quality.

Altogether, this recording of 'Do Not Disturb' merits 5 stars out of 10. It's legitimately *mindless* fun (don't think too hard while listening) - and consuming something this sick takes something of a strong stomach - but it's worth your time as long as you can accept occasionally choppy recording and as long as it's free. If it leaves the 'Plus' menu, Pass.

[Note: the cannibalism-during-torture is pretty intense. The warning at the start of the recording is insufficient]

I love this author, so the story was great. However, the performance of the narrator came across as robotic. I’m not sure if it’s AI or just a person who sounds extremely robotic. Some parts you can feel the emotion, but there were several instances where the narrator’s tone did not change to match the mood accordingly.

Love Jon Athan’s books, but the narrator was odd
