Description

An unabridged reading of the brand-new novel based on a storyline by Douglas Adams.

The Doctor promised Romana the end of the universe, so she's less than impressed when what she gets is a cricket match. But then the award ceremony is interrupted by 11 figures in white uniforms and peaked skull helmets wielding bat-shaped weapons that fire lethal bolts of light into the screaming crowd. The Krikkitmen are back.

Millions of years ago, the people of Krikkit learned they were not alone in the universe and promptly launched a xenophobic crusade to wipe out all other lifeforms. After a long and bloody conflict, the Time Lords imprisoned Krikkit within an envelope of Slow Time, a prison that could be opened only with the Wicket Gate key, a device that resembles - to human eyes, at least - an oversized set of cricket stumps....

From Earth to Gallifrey, from Bethselamin to Devalin, from Krikkit to Mareeve II to the far edge of infinity, the Doctor and Romana are tugged into a pan-galactic conga with fate as they rush to stop the Krikkitmen gaining all five pieces of the key. If they fail, the entire cosmos faces a fiery retribution that will leave nothing but ashes....

Doctor Who's Guide To The Galaxy

Douglas Adams is one of my favorite authors and the creator of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. When I saw that there was a cross-over type book called Doctor Who and the Krikkit Men, I expected great things. What I got was good, but it didn't live up to the expectations I had set for the book. Cowritten by James Goss and narrated by Dan Starkey, a handful of amazing talent was used to bring this story to life. The story follows roughly the same journey taken in the Hitchhiker's Guide, but with some notable changes. The cross-over was wonderfully received, but I think it was a missed opportunity to not have Arthur Dent and his time travelling couch make an appearance. The story was done once in Hitchhiker's Guide and repeated with slight changes to give it the Doctor Who feel. I think enough changes were made to allow this book to stand on its own, but I think it missed the point in a few areas. The narration was wonderful and the voice acting of Starkey was out of this world. Definitely a book I enjoyed. If you like Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide, or Doctor Who, give this a read.

Douglas Adams last unpublished material blended

it was refreshing. You do feel some of Adams writing in there. The narrator did a very good job.

Tons of fun!

Douglas Adams' humour is evident throughout the book and the performance is excellent. A light, fun adventure. Though you may never look at Cricket the same again. :-)

f you love Hitchhike Guide to the Galaxy more

f you love Hitchhike Guide to the Galaxy more than Dr. Who buy this Audible. It is a Dr. Who story under there somewhere but the writer could not alter his hitchhikers dry wit and it ruins it for ,me
