Description
Conrad Black, bestselling author of Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Champion of Freedom and Richard M. Nixon: A Life in Full, turns his attention to his "friend" President Donald J. Trump and provides the most intriguing and significant analysis yet of Trump's political rise. Ambitious in intellectual scope, contrarian in many of its opinions, and admirably concise, this is surely set to be one of the most provocative political books you are likely to listen to this year.

Not a bad story
Conrad Black obviously has real admiration for Donald Trump. It may have clouded his perspective somewhat when he wrote this book.

Excellent in all aspects!
I'm very impressed with Conrad Black's writing style which made this very enjoyable to listen to. I found his perspective of the Trump presidency to be fair and reasonable. The narration couldn't have been better. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and highly recommend it.

A brilliant summary of the Trump saga to date.
Conrad Black, by this work should feel morally committed to writing an equally insightful exposé of the Biden Crime family and Joe's sell out of America. Give us a one to one and event by event comparision of the two administrations.

I listened to thia audiobook from beginning to end. For people who have open mind of the Pres, this is an accurate book about him. For the Trump hater, they will not like this book.

Balanced perspective of our president!
Author Conrad Black writes with some authority in Donald J. Trump: A President like No Other because he is well acquainted with the man. He goes through Trump's adult life with brutal honesty about his personal weaknesses and mistakes as well as his strengths and successes. He discusses Trump's determination, hard work, and extraordinary energy, self confidence, crudeness, and audacity. He discusses his bankruptcies and near bankruptcies as well as his marriages and his cheating. Black readily admits the Donald Trump routinely overstates his accomplishments but calls them exaggerations rather than lies. Trump's commitment to and easy association with working class Americans is explained as is his very real patriotism. This book covers his Republican primary campaign and the general election campaign. He calls Trump unsuave. Black, who is not a US citizen, explains why he believes Donald Trump is the best possible president for this time in US history. Finally he covers President Trump's very real successes as president despite attempts by traditional Republicans, the entire Democrat Party, the administrative state, left wing judges, and the mainstream media to derail him. Finally Conrad Black makes the case that Trump is no more crude or disliked than Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, or Richard Nixon. Along the way Black makes the case that Trump's business experience provided him with excellent preparation for the US presidency.
I've read many of Conrad Black's highly polished columns as well as his historical biographies. He tends to use a lot of big words and to adopt a sophisticated style consistent with his wealthy upbringing and education and his unusual ease and competence with the formal English language. His approach with this book is very different; he writes using everyday English.
A note about the author: Conrad Black himself was a target of an overzealous US federal prosecutor ending up being convicted of various crimes related to business dealings and spending over three years in US federal prisons. He finished serving his prison time in 2011. He is a Canadian by birth and a British citizen by choice. He currently lives in Canada.

Great and insightful book
Hard to put down, the anecdotes are fascinating and written in a style of objectivity and thoughtfulness that clears confusion about Donald Trump very well. It’s a page turner.

Refreshing!
Nice to read a political story about Trump that doesn't descend into the frantic Trump Derangement Syndrome of most members of the media. I wish Conrad Black had narrated his own book though.

Told the good, bad and ugly (but true) story
Like reporters of the past; Conrad Black, tells the story of Mr. Trumps Journey to the presidency. Like many business people, Mr. Trump had a great many successes and failures; though because of his personality, His, were almost always seen by the public. His three marriages, his two divorces. His wandering eye, before, after and during his marriages. His financial rollercoaster as a real estate developer; and yes a entrepreneur of everything Trump. This is a fair telling of the past few decades to now; like him or not it is worth a read or a listen. It is this behavior and plain speech that all who voted for and support him like.

An Honest Description of the President's Ascent
A biography of Donald J Trump's life with no punches pulled. Although the author does think highly of the President, he doesn't shy away from describing mistakes also. The author knows the President through a business arrangement many years past. Much of the book is following Trump's business deals from boom to bust and back. Once it is time for the election, most of the material will be familiar to those of us that just lived through it, but is well presented. I think this is an excellent book in that it is the most objective book I have read.

Nothing new or insightful
This book was pretty heavily promoted but if you were conscious between 2015 and early 2018 then nothing in the book is any kind of a revelation. It's just a chronicle of Trump's candidacy and early presidency from a sympathetic point of view. No great insights or analysis. Meh.
