In this searing memoir, Congressman Jamie Raskin tells the story of the 45 days at the start of 2021 that permanently changed his life - and his family’s - as he confronted the painful loss of his son to suicide, lived through the violent insurrection in our nation’s Capitol, and led the impeachment effort to hold President Trump accountable for inciting the political violence. William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush was largely the result of chance, while his second tenure under President Donald Trump a deliberate and difficult choice. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

Donald Trump's campaign chairman went to jail. So did his personal lawyer. His long-time political consigliere was convicted of serious federal crimes, and his national security advisor pled guilty to others. Career intelligence agents and military officers were alarmed enough by the president's actions that they alerted senior government officials and ignited the impeachment process. Yet despite all this, a years-long inquiry led by special counsel Robert Mueller, and the third impeachment of a president in American history, Donald Trump survived to run for re-election. Why?

Through firsthand accounts from over 250 current and former Fox insiders, CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter unlocks the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire.

Originally released in fall 2017, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump was a runaway best seller. Alarmed Americans and international onlookers wanted to know: What is wrong with him? How did America end up with a leader who acts so crudely and despotically, and counter to our democratic principles? Why do his followers stick with him, even when he acts against their interests? John Dean, a man with a history of standing up to autocratic presidents, joins with Bob Altemeyer, a psychology professor with a unique area of expertise: authoritarianism. Together, using psychological diagnostic tools, as well as exclusive research and analysis from the Monmouth University Polling Institute, the authors provide us with an eye-opening understanding of the Trump phenomenon.

When he opened the FBI investigation into Russia’s election interference, Peter Strzok had already spent more than two decades defending the United States against foreign threats. His career in counterintelligence ended shortly thereafter, when the Trump administration used his private expression of political opinions to force him out of the Bureau in August 2018. But by that time, Strzok had seen more than enough to convince him that the commander in chief had fallen under the sway of America’s adversary in the Kremlin.

Description
Includes audio excerpts from Trump’s press conferences, remarks, rallies, and speeches
A National Best Seller
In perilous times, facts, expertise, and truth are indispensable. President Trump's flagrant disregard for the truth and his self-aggrandizing exaggerations, specious misstatements, and bald-faced lies have been rigorously documented and debunked since the first day of his presidency by The Washington Post's Fact Checker staff.
Donald Trump and His Assault on Truth is based on the only comprehensive compilation and analysis of the more than 16,000 fallacious statements that Trump has uttered since the day of his inauguration. He has repeated many of his most outrageous claims dozens or even hundreds of times as he has sought to bend reality to his political fantasy and personal whim.
Drawing on Trump's tweets, press conferences, political rallies, and TV appearances, The Washington Post identifies his most frequently used misstatements, biggest whoppers, and most dangerous deceptions. This book unpacks his errant statements about the economy, immigration, the impeachment hearings, foreign policy, and, of critical concern now, the coronavirus crisis as it unfolded.
Fascinating, startling, and even grimly funny, Donald Trump and His Assault on Truth by The Washington Post is the essential, authoritative record of Trump's shocking disregard for facts.

Trump is lying again
Oh. Sorry. "False or misleading statements". The Washington Post (WP) won't call them lies. They're too professional for that sort of language. I call them lies.
What's the old joke... "How do you know the president is lying?
"His mouth is open and words are coming out.
The WP takes his lies and debunks them, one by one. Necessarily they only had 16,000 lies to debunk, since this was apparently through the end of the impeachment trial, or maybe a month or two more. I believe, as I write this, he's up to 19,000 lies and working on his next 1000. The man is a lying machine. He certainly has one distinction. In the history of presidents, he is, by far, the biggest liar and bullsh*ter.
Trump has no grasp of reality, no relationship with any truth, and he is totally shameless about it. When confronted with something he has said that was a total lie, he will say "I didn't say that.". A reporter might answer that it is on tape, and yes, that is exactly what he said. He will shamelessly lie, "No, I didn't say that." And that's that for that.
If you're outraged by this president, or really, more importantly, if you think you like him, you should read this book. It will, hopefully, change your mind.
This is a wonderful piece of reporting on a president who simply lives in his own reality show, acts on some sort of impulse and then lies about what he's done and lies about lying about what he's done. It's just endless. This is a very important book.

Required Reading for EVERYONE!
I am a pretty avid consumer of books and media that do not present the president in a favorable light and while much of this material I was somewhat familiar with, the shear megaton of material laid out one thing after another was really impressive! The documented just flat-out falseness of this man in every respect is also amazing.

No Fake News in "Donald Trump & his Assault...."
The best part of the book, actual recordings of all false and misleading statements, is the worst part as well. Having to hear Don the Con's voice leaves one with no doubt about the fact checking that took place. Having to listen to Don the Con's voice this often is brutal. He is a horrific story teller who uses nothing but fluff to fool his audiences.
The authors do a terrific job going into some of the biggest fabrications and lies to be put forth by Trump. As far as content goes, they waste no time diving into subject matter of this book.
This should be required reading and listening for all members of Trump's team, the Trump organization along with his entire family.

Everyone knows trump is a heinous liar (whether or not some want to admit it) and this book illuminates and explains each of the most egregious ones in detail without the writers giving their personal opinions. While some may see this as a personal attack on him, Trump has no one but himself to blame.

Proof that tweeting is sometimes a bad idea.
Although I am not surprised at anything I heard in this book, I did not like to hear some things come directly from Trump himself through the recordings that are in this program. As usual with a book on Trump, judge for yourself weather he is telling the truth, or if he is a liar.
