Description

It’s been over a year since Cassidy Miller retired from the United States Marine Corps, but try telling that to her nightmares. She knew that coming back after eight years in a war zone wouldn’t be easy, but she’d underestimated the real difficulties of transitioning back to civilian life. War is hell, but the aftermath is endless.

Looking for a fresh start, she’s left her friends and career in Minneapolis to be a police officer in northern Minnesota. It’s in the tiny town of Embarrass where she learns more about Julia Desjardin. The city prosecutor is cool, professional, and untouchable. But she and Cassidy have history, and Cassidy isn’t going to let her easily forget that.

For all their surface differences, Cassidy and Julia have more in common than they first realized - both are reluctant to hand over their pasts to be judged and studied. But it might take someone just as damaged as the other to help each cope with the skeletons in their respective closets.

I love the books but the narration...

Lori Prince has always been hit or miss for me. I didn't particularly enjoy this narration as I felt it was read too loud and forceful. It just didn't feel nice on my ears. The series is a great one so I guess I'll just stick reading them.

The story is good. The reading however was confusing. I felt like every sentence was a question. It took a while to get used to the inflections and tones of the performer (reader).

I REALLY wanted to like this book

At the start I did not have high hopes for this book. It started out cheesy and very predictable. Lori Prince is one of my favorite narrators, but she was not on point with this book. All of the elements were there for a great story, but it fell really short for me. I’m giving the author another chance, because I see that there is ability and talent!

One exception! The sex AND connection WAS AMAZING! Another reason I’m giving the author another chance! 😏

Stellar

The combination of Eliza Lentzski and Lori Prince is powerful. Both are favorite author and narrator.

The story has already been known by many and it has received good reviews all these while. But with the addition of Lori Prince to throw voices for these amazing characters...I really don’t know why any Eliza Lentzski fans miss this?

I love the way Julia’s voice was being projected by Lori Prince. It feels so good to be able to hear them.

Don't Call Me Hero

The voice of the reader is very irritating hard to get through this book. I will look more into who the narrator is next time.

Amazing

Everything about this book is wonderful. The storyline, characters, descriptions. Having had family in both the military and law enforcement, I was really able to appreciate the attention to and inclusion of small details.

As an added bonus, Lori Prince's vocal changes with each character really help the story to come alive even more.

Honestly, you just can't go wrong with this one!

Excellent in every way!

This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last. Excellent storyline and characters. Lori Prince really brings the characters to life with the different voices.

Wounded Warriors

Cassidy Miller returned to Minnesota with PTSD and a Navy Cross. Now a cop she moves from Minneapolis to Embarrass, MN as a small town cop. She and the city prosecutor have history and Julia Desjardin means to collect. Both have wounded souls and seek each other’s touch. Great performance and story. Erotic romance. Recommend.

okay

it was okay, the story seemed predictable. the Military wasn't believable. A Marine would never call themselves a Soldier (?). the only thing they talk about is Oh that bad tine G in Afghanistan. (blah, blah) but that is the worst of the book. it is okay. something to pass the time. Coronavirus 2020
