Description
Does love have a chance when no one knows she wants it?
Jinx Tanner is an ex-con trying to piece together a life on the outside and heal her relationship with her half-sister who hasn't spoken to her in over 25 years. Romantic love is nowhere on her radar. E. J. Bastien is a business executive with her life and heart under control. She has a successful career, a woman in her bed whenever she wants one, and a healthy relationship with her grown children - as long as they don't find out she's gay. She has no desire for romantic entanglements.
When these two women awaken after a one-night stand to find their lives inextricably entwined, love has its work cut out for it.

Great book
wasn't sure I liked the narration, but the story in its self was really good. I think the timing for the two sisters to talk came late in the game. but over all it was just right. I would recommend others to read this story themselves and I would hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.

I loved that this wasn't quite the norm for lesfic
Great story! and great characters. It was defintely a different storyline with the whole ex-con storyline. I loved Jinx. Flow was great.
Narration was great too! I did have or notice a weird sound issue at about 2 hours 45 minutes into the book where it sounded like there was running water or a faucet running in the background. It was super distracting at first, but I learned to tune it out after awhile. just thought it was weird.

Really Liked It
I loved that this book didn't resort to some cliched breakup between EJ and Jinx; it came as a natural extension of their differences and EJ's fears.I thought that EJ hiding something as basic as her sexuality was not sustainable if she ever wanted a real relationship. That pertains to her relationship with her children, especially her daughter the stress of hiding from her sexuality from them was more corrosive than the truth; as well as a lot more stressful. In addition, what was her fixation on something her son had said when he was 14.
Okay aside from that, this was an excellent tale of romance, the relationship moving forwards erratically and most adult relationships do. This wasn't portrayed as one of those can't leave bad enough alone a situation held together by sex, drama and desperation. Although anyone who didn't feel as worthless and unworthy as Jinx wouldn't have put up with EJ's as much of her crap as she did. Among the ancillary characters only Sparkle added to the narrative; originally presented as someone I thought for sure was a one scene character but was exposed gradually to be far deeper than I thought she'd be. The ending lacks a punch and coincidence plays far too large a part of it but that's a small ripple in an excellent story.

Excellent!
I loved Embracing the Dawn. Jinx and EJ are great characters. It's great to read about real, adult, mature women with adult problems. Loved that EJ and Jinx were able to work it out. Excellent narration by Melissa Sternenberg.

Very good
Would you consider the audio edition of Embracing the Dawn to be better than the print version?
I haven't read it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Embracing the Dawn?
The sisters finally making peace.
Have you listened to any of Melissa Sternenberg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I can't remember.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. It touched on a subject that is all around us, that a lot of people can't understand. Addiction is all around us, and it's always wonderful too see when a person rise like the phoenix from being dead for so long.
Any additional comments?
Thank you for letting us know that we can rise and redeem ourselves from a horrible existence. I know, and still I rise.

How life is
The feeling of loss and trust and finding yourself.
This book was amazing bringing two life struggles together and finding how to live and love.
Both characters hiding secrets and both learning to share there fears and finding forgiveness and expectance.
This was a great book.

A great romantic read
This was a really nice romantic read and a sweet story - I'd give it a 4.5/5. The story follows older characters which is a bit atypical (one of the characters is 50+). I enjoyed the narration as it wasn't over the top and felt appropriate for the tone of the story. This book read as a very classic romance and while it isn't an "oh-my-god" or "best ever" story, it avoided too much cheese or nonsense that sometimes plays romance novels that I've returned. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to hear a story about second chances and finding love late in life.

why did I wait so long to read this?
I had read somewhere that this was a good book but for some reason hesitated on purchasing it. I'm so glad I finally did. It was a very good story with great narration. some of it was a little shocking but that just added to the emotions involved. there were funny parts and sad parts and I was a little sad to hear the book end. jinx was an awesome character and there were times I felt she should just give up on this woman, but all things worked out well of course. definitely a good listen.
