Description

Val had returned from his latest tour of duty scarred in body and soul. Barely able to walk and drugged to the gills for pain, he thought his killing days were finally behind him. He couldn't have been more wrong.

Endless Online, a hyper futuristic game where players could truly live another life...

Val loved the idea of starting over in virtual reality. But when someone he cares about turns up missing after chasing that same dream, Val quickly learns that Endless is no simple game.

And if Val can't figure out the dark secrets behind this realm of wizards, warriors, and intergalactic conquest, then it's game over. For everyone...

Yeah... uhhhhh.....no

Like...totally man

Over half- way through and no game has even started. Dark and depressing. Overuse of certain words, even in the same sentence. Shimmering, strange, confused. This is like listening to someone totally wasted, and without any education, trying to explain quantum physics.

I would’ve gone further to see where it goes, but the repetition of the same adjectives over and over became unbearable. Try another book.

Beyond descriptive not in a good way

Literally takes 20 minutes to explain setting up explosives vs he set up the explosives.... no story here at all the whole book took hours to explain something that would take other authors that are better 10 flipping minutes.

Not what I expected

Over all the book was amazing. The author did do some tropes that I do not like, but it was so well written I was Enthralled to listen to it in one day. I'm not going to get into detail there is very little story progression in my mind, but character developments with the Valor and sigh characters was phenomenal. In the 10 so hours you listen to this book you gain sympathy and understanding of Valor I applaud M.H. Johnson For great storytelling. And for the narrator's they brought the story alive over all 5 out of 5.

Great Book

It's a great book, but be warned it starts off with a lot of setup for the ultimate story. Stick with it and you will be rewarded! Enjoy!

Perform it was good the story line was ok but the promise I didn't care for

Thin

The story was both very rushed and impossibly slow due to the poor character development. All characters were forced and the plot was ridiculous.

Interesting idea, desperately needed an editor

First, the title is misleading. This is not a book about an MMORPG, this is a story about the rules of an MMORPG coming to life. The narrator and voice actress did an amazing job. Unfortunately, the story could have used an editor's touch. Two things I noticed early-on. The pacing for the story is incredibly slow. The author uses verbose dialog for exposition, telling rather than showing the reader (listener) what is happening. The author also overuses the same descriptions and expressions. I lost count of the number of times the author used the phrase "for all that". Also, the protagonist has a dark and tortured past, and the author never passes up an opportunity to remind you just how dark and tortured it is. At least a paragraph, or more, several times each chapter. At one point, the author interrupts the events of the story to spend an entire chapter expounding on just how dark and tortured the protagonist's past is, a chapter that could have been summarized in a couple pages and still more than adequately described what happened to drive the protagonist to do the things he did. The pacing could almost be forgiven, but in the end, the author doesn't even tell a complete story. The story ends in the middle of the protagonist and his companions still trying to escape the initial dungeon they find themselves trapped in. There is no climax or resolution, just a 'to be continued'. I would like to see where the story goes, but at the pacing in this book, I feel like I would need 3 or 4 books more just to reach some kind of conclusion.

more MC's life experience than lit rpg

it's not bad, but the pace keeps being broken by character development in a fashion that felt like it took away from the story more, in some times, then it gave insight into the character. it has a lot of potential for a 2nd book but if the story keeps jumping to the past tense I'm probably going to just pass on this series. Update, the 2nd book in the series does make this a good read as the story picks up pace much better and is very enjoyable.

10 chapters to setup the back story

I tried to like this book. I made it to chapter 11. But the story is like a gut wound. it wasn't getting better with time.
