I kept trying to get into this book but just couldn’t. I constantly found myself irritated by the female narrator. She narrates the character as though she’s always in a state of melancholy, including during steamy scenes. After about the 20th time trying to move forward with his story I’m finally throwing in the towel.

This story is written with reptitition upon repitition. Character A monologuing about topic X, claiming further explanationit needed, then just slightly restating it multiple ways in the same monologue. Character A having a second monologue about topic X again,containing reptition again. then we reuse the same topic x but have Character B have a shot at the monologue. And just for fun, have flash backs. I don't think the 2nd POV adds value, when it's just mirroring thoughts and conclusions previously stated... this same theme was then used again for topic X and Y.

Listening to so much repetition does make me wonder if this is just for word count?

I would have liked to hear a bit more about the range and limits of the specific abilities or each species.
