Description

Terry Goodkind, author of the enormously popular Sword of Truth novels, has forged perhaps his best yet, pitting Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell against threats to the freedom of the world. They both must struggle at opposite ends of the earth against the relentless, monolithic forces of the Imperial Order.

A Sister of the Dark captures Richard and takes him deep into the Old World, to the very heart of the Order, while his beloved Kahlan remains behind. Free because of Richard's sacrifice for her, but unwilling to abandon the cause of the Midlands, Kahlan violates not only prophecy but her last pledge to Richard, and raises an army against the advancing horde of the Imperial Order. Separated and fighting for their lives, Richard and Kahlan will be pushed to the limits of their endurance and tested in their love for one another.

Once again, the master storyteller weaves a riveting spell that will captivate even more fans for this incredible series.

great story and a good narrator

I read this book years ago and listened to it recently on my commutes on the bus. This one is still my absolute favourite, and the narrator does a good job of telling the story. I ended feeling much the same as when I read it.. I can't wait to go on this journey a 3rd time In the future.

A story to read, RE read and RE RE read again.

I enjoy a good book as much as the next person but I absolutely loved the sword of truth series by Terry goodkind. This is one of my favorite books in it as it takes you on a journey into the development or not only the main character but side characters as well . Personally I feel that books 1 and 2 were great but the latter ones were good but lacked the same eye opening appeal. This book takes it back to the place I felt in book one and 2 and makes me want more.

One of the most inspiring books ever written

By the time I reached this book in Goodkind's series, my interest in the Sword of Truth was waning. I love the characters of Richard and Kahlan, but after hearing about how there never was a moment's peace and one thing after another going wrong, I was getting fed up. Temple of the Winds nearly killed me, but I saw everything getting better during Soul of Fire, only to have it end horrifically. Terry, give us a break! I want to see my heros happy for more than five minutes.

However, during the first pages of Faith of the Fallen, my faith in these books was renewed. Faith of the Fallen has become one of my favorite books of all time. The story of hope and perseverance is truly touching, showing readers that in the darkest of times, hope will always shine through. Richard's strength and Kahlan's courage prove that these two characters are the best the literary world has. Goodkind captures the essence of the human spirit and the woes we deal with in our world today. He sums it up perfectly stating, "Your life is yours alone. Rise up and live it." Never have there been better words to live by.

Technically, this book is fast paced and filled with action, although it is more hopeful than depressing. The plot is direct and the characters are engaging. Goodkind's writing is masterful.

Faith of the Fallen is the beacon of this series and urges the reader to continue on. You won't be disappointed to see Richard and Kahlan to the end.

Probably the Best of the Bunch

This might be the best of Goodkind's books certainly as good if not better than the 1st one. The writing has improved since book 4 AND the reader fits the writing perfectly. It starts out slower and takes a while to develop but the 4th section (or mp3) that makes up the entire book is finishing with a bang.

I haven't even finished the book and I felt the need to write this review. Nice job Goodkind

The best sword of truth book so far!! Damn good!!!

If you could sum up Faith of the Fallen in three words, what would they be?

Never give up!!!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Richard,he always does the right thing.and then he will cut your hart out!!!! That BOY is BAD!!

Which character – as performed by John Kenneth – was your favorite?

Victor the blacksmith, his voice is the way I would have imagined him and it made the character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end when Richard and Kahlan meet after a year, that is what keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Any additional comments?

I think this was the worst voice for Zed so far,Zed should always sound the same.not goofy!! But all in all this was a great book and it makes me want to finish the rest of the series. And I will,6 down a couple more to go!!!

Zedd is a vibrant Wizard!!!

My only complaint about this particular book is the horrendous, and I mean HORRENDOUS portrayal of Zedd. I have listened to all the books in this series (and have read them also), this guy makes the robot who read stone of tears sound like morgan freeman. Seriously, the constantly changing narrators is quite annoying. (I have wanted to say that since I started listening to the books.)

The story definitely reignites your passion back into the series and while the long winded diatribes are sometimes annoying the story is solid and brings you back to focus on the goals and ambitions of what Richard and Kahlan are trying to accomplish.

Not for communists

This is one of the better books of the series. The pace is typical of Goodkind, meaning it can run a little slow at times, but overall good. The narrator does a good job giving life to the characters, although someone with such a deep voice reading for female characters is a bit distracting at times when he raises up an octave.

The second half focuses on the order and a thinly veiled attack on communism. I still enjoyed it quite a bit and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the sword of truth series.

Back on track

After the last book, I was concerned that the series was going downhill. I'm pleasantly surprised that Goodkind is back on track.

As an adult fantasy reader, this book is especially interesting. It is rather slow as fantasy goes. Nevertheless, Goodkind does a great job showing how tyranny gives evil a good name by convincing people that giving up their individuality and rights is the right thing to do. Stalin felt as much.

Goodkind's Imperial Order is a utilitarian/communist entity. For a fantasy book, the depth Goodkind gives to his characters and his analysis is surprising - not to mention the accurate picture he portrays of those who disdain individual success.

Who is John Galt?

I enjoyed this story, as I've enjoyed all in this series- very grateful that we've finally settled on how to pronounce the names of the characters.

I was a little shocked to find I was actually re-reading Atlas Shrugged. I loved that book too, but it seemed slightly out of place.

One of the best books I've ever read

absolutely the greatest in the series and would even make a brilliant stand alone book. The characters are well written, the themes are outspoken but not preachy and the story structures beautifully into near perfection.
