À propos de cet audio
Nothing is more awkward than waking up next to a woman whose name you can’t remember...
Navy SEAL Trick Novak knows he needs to find a better cure for his insomnia, but a warm body and a pretty smile worked just fine until he met Gaby Ellis—his latest conquest’s roommate. Now he’s not sleeping, and he’s definitely not getting laid, but that just means he’s got more time to plot ways to win over the beautiful and stubborn kindergarten teacher.
Except maybe falling in love with one who'd rather not know yours.

📚EBOOK📚 & 🎧AUDIO 🎧
I’ve read a few Zoe York books before and I always appreciate how she keeps things short but still complete. Fall Away fits that vibe—cute, low-angst, and easy to breeze through in a sitting or two. Not my favorite in the series, but I had a good time with it.
The setup is classic: Navy SEAL Trick Novak doesn’t “do” relationships, while Gaby Ellis absolutely does. After an awkward meet (he can’t even remember his last hook-up’s name… and then meets her roommate, Gaby—yikes), Trick’s insomnia turns into a mission to win over the stubborn kindergarten teacher. I liked the push-pull there: Gaby fighting her attraction until she finally gives in, then both of them working through what they actually want and what “relationship” looks like for each of them. It’s basically: chemistry first, expectations second, and then that slow alignment toward something real.
This lands as a low-drama, “prove-it-with-actions” romance. Trick is charming in a restless, can’t-sit-still way, and Gaby’s boundaries make sense—she’s not interested in being another warm body, she wants the real thing. Their conflict is mostly emotional logistics rather than Big Misunderstandings, which I appreciated, though I did wish for a bit more depth in the second half to make the resolution hit harder.
Audiobook note: Jean-Paul Mordrake’s narration is smooth and easy to listen to; it matches the quick, contemporary feel of the story and keeps the pace moving.
Bottom line: A bite-sized, low-angst SEAL romance with solid chemistry and just enough growth to satisfy. Cute and steamy in the right places, even if it didn’t completely steal my heart. Fans of commitment-phobe-meets-relationship-girl and “I’ll show you I’m serious” energy will enjoy this one.
