À propos de cet audio

The simple truth is proven that sometimes a gentleman never knows his heart until a lady comes along to introduce it to him. When Mr. Darcy encounters Elizabeth Bennet injured after a fall, his concern for her welfare cracks the shell of his carefully guarded heart, and a charming man emerges. Elizabeth sees an appealing side of him she never believed possible from the stoic, proud master of Pemberley. They find the simple gentlemanly act of assisting her home will test both Mr. Darcy’s resolve to keep his heart safe and Elizabeth’s conviction that this is the last man on earth she might have ever been prevailed upon to marry. Soon, falling for Mr. Darcy becomes a real possibility.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is a classic, because it's a slice of early 19th century life of the rich in England - the characters are made more interesting, because they are flawed (i.e. Darcy's pride, Elizabeth's prejudice, Mr. Bennett's neglect, Mrs. Bennett's self-absorption, etc.). Despite their flaws, each character, like real human beings, have many redeeming qualities making them much more relatable and their stories timeless). This variation takes the same characters and dials up only the good traits of the protagonists (how Darcy and Elizabeth and Mr. Bennett would act on their best days) and dials up the evil of villain (Wickham is a caricature of the OG character here, a full blown after school special villain - no nuance to be had here). Having said all that, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the characters that I already loved; however, if I were not familiar with the characters already, it would not be as enjoyable. The author simplifies everything, making everyone more one-dimensional, much like a Hallmark TV special during the Holidays. For what's it's worth, it's a lovely fairytale. Enjoy it for what it is.
