À propos de cet audio

Some secrets are too big to stay buried.

A few months ago, Boston expat Maura Donovan was reunited with her mother after more than 20 years of absence. Since then, Maura has been getting accustomed to Irish living, complete with an inherited house and a pub named Sullivan’s. But now, her mother has returned - and she’s brought Maura’s half-sister in tow. To make matters more confusing, a handful of Cork University students are knocking on Maura’s door, asking about a mystical fairy fort that happens to be located on Maura’s piece of land.

The lore indicates that messing with the fort can cause bad luck, and most everyone is telling Maura not to get too involved for fear of its powers, but Maura is curious about her own land, and she definitely doesn’t buy into the superstition. Then one of the students disappears after a day of scoping out the fort on Maura’s property.

Maura treads carefully, asking the folks around town who might have an idea, but no one wants anything to do with these forts. She has to take matters into her own hand - it’s her land, after all. But when she uncovers a decades-old corpse buried in the center of the fort, nothing is for certain.

Have read and listened to all of the books in this series as well as other series by Sheila Connolly. The main character, Maura seems to be getting dumber with her comments, like " I've never seen that in Boston. She left Boston at the beginning of the series, quit comparing life in a Big City like Boston to a small rural town in Ireland. Apples and Oranges, both fruit but not the same. Boston is in her past and should be left there. Also Maura, does more work finding who did what to who than the local Police, I realize this is a piece of fiction but in reality she would never get into "investigating" the way she is allowed to in these books.

I have enjoyed all of Ms. Connolly's books but I am finding all of them are getting very far fetched.

The Writing Is Not What The Previous Books Had

I liked the first book but with each book she gets more and more repetitive and seems to forget which characters know Maura's history and sometimes changes what happens when it's repeated. it's getting a bit annoying. Too bad, there was potential in the series initially

repetitive
