Description

Soon to be a major motion picture in March 2019!

In this moving story that’s perfect for fans of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, two teens fall in love with just one minor complication - they can’t get within five feet of each other without risking their lives.

Can you love someone you can never touch?

Stella Grant likes to be in control - even though her totally out-of-control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions.

The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments or a fancy new clinical drug trial. Soon, he’ll turn 18, and then he’ll be able to unplug all these machines and actually go see the world, not just its hospitals.

Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. If he so much as breathes on Stella, she could lose her spot on the transplant list. Either one of them could die. The only way to stay alive is to stay apart. But suddenly, six feet doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment.

What if they could steal back just a little bit of the space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking, too?

Meh

I was stoked for this release so maybe my expectations were set too high, but I found the story just alright. The worst was the narrator when she was reading others. Stella's voice was fine but the others were almost forcefully nasally and robotic. It was awkward and hard to listen to. pulled me out of the story.

Story was okay, narrations were awful.

The story was good. It’s exactly what one would expect from a YA novel but not something to be blown away buy. The narration on the other hand was painfully bad.

Love this book!!!

I love this book! It’s a great read/listen! It’s great for anyone who loves a romantic cheesy story. Also love the sass that the author and readers for Stella and Will’s character puts into it. Wish there was a sequel to it, I wanna continue on Stella and Will’s story!

Five feet apart

If there was a type of crying for every emotion I think that would describe me throughout this story. Amazingly read by the readers, I was able to feel everything through them as if I were in their footsteps.

Love the Story. Hate the Narration.

Love the story, one of my favorites. The voices just don't fit. More effort could have been put in to make sure that the voices do the narration justice.

It's just missing something

The story idea of the story is great, and I like to plot in retrospect, but it falls short. These are life and death characters and I feel as if they could be developed more. Terminal illnesses are supposed to be something with more raw emotions and this story just doesn't do it. The performance of the audiobook was well done, but the storyline was always missing something. It could have been done better. The idea is great, but I wish there was more I'm not sure what but something inspiring. Something big.

The review

I really love this books because there is some much emotion and it like your in the story but I really did not like the girls voice I did not match the character and was not really comforting
But the boys voice was good and also a little to deep .

Terrible Choices for Voices

The sound quality was fine on this audiobook, but the “actors” chosen to read for the characters were awful. Will and Stella are young people, and the people who read their parts did not sound young. In fact, the guy who read Will’s part sounds like a pervert, and the girl who read Stella’s part was entirely too squeaky sounding. Plus, Stella’s reader made Barb sound like an annoying adult that she couldn’t stand, but, in the book, Stella adores Barb. She would never mock Barb as she seems to in the morning.

I bought this to use in my classroom with my students, but none of us could stand it, so we went back to me reading it aloud.

Be warned! Don’t waste your money or a credit on this one!

It’s cute.

I really wanted to like this story but it falls short.

The pacing is as slow as the dialogue. The secondary characters are flat and the plot- despite the ‘high stakes’ of life or death is boring.

It has some cute moments but it misses the mark for me.

Sigh

Just leaves so much to be desired. But hey, I’m not a teenager so maybe I’m missing something. But I read a lot of young adult and teen fiction and am very seldom this disappointed. The story is mediocre. The writing is average. The female voice actor goes from one female voice for the protagonist to one nasally voice for all other characters. The male voice actor sounds like a 45 year old man who smokes but is playing a teenage boy with frail lungs? Like it just doesn’t add up. Was not impressed. Doesn’t even begin to touch the obvious rival which is Fault in Our Stars. That book had substance. Not just teen love.

Promiscuity

I cringe at sexual references in my reads. I might overlook one or two, but this one had innuendo and flagrant references throughout--most of them completely unrelated to what was going on. Even my teens (I have 4 right now) asked me to turn it off somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd chapter. I listened to a few more on my own, hoping it had some redemptive qualities, but it didn't turn around. So sad; the story seemed interesting.
