À propos de cet audio
Virginia farmer Joel Salatin, who has been offered a prominent role in President Trump's Department of Agriculture, has become the new voice of clean, local, healthy eating.
From Salatin's point of view, life in the 21st century just ain't normal. In Folks, This Ain't Normal, he discusses how far removed we are from the simple, sustainable joy that comes from living close to the land and the people we love. Salatin has many thoughts on what normal is and shares practical and philosophical ideas for changing our lives in small ways that have big impact. Salatin urges people to take a better look at their food: What's in it, where is it coming from, and how did it get the table?
Salatin, hailed by the New York Times as "Virginia's most multifaceted agrarian since Thomas Jefferson [and] the high priest of the pasture" and profiled in the Academy Award nominated documentary Food, Inc. and the bestselling book The Omnivore's Dilemma, understands what food should be: Wholesome, seasonal, raised naturally, procured locally, prepared lovingly, and eaten with a profound reverence for the circle of life. And his message doesn't stop there. From child-rearing, to creating quality family time, to respecting the environment, Salatin writes with a wicked sense of humor and true storyteller's knack for the revealing anecdote.
Salatin's crucial message and distinctive voice--practical, provocative, scientific, and down-home philosophical in equal measure--make Folks, This Ain't Normal a must-listen audiobook.
This book challenges a lot of very controversial food issues and sheds light on the darkness of the big food industry and the government’s over scrupulous control on the small business
A refreshing change in perspective

So refreshingly full of what feels like long forgotten common sense.

In a victim culture where everyone blames livestock farming on anything they can get away with - Joel Salatin gets some things off his chest about the politics and malpractices of farming and he offers up real world solutions to some of the very terrible problems consumers face. It's not a book that fixes all things but It's obvious he's passionate about his work and is doing his best to leave the Earth better than he found it.
This was me dipping my toes into learning where my food comes from for the first time
It was a very eye opening experience and I feel like I've gained a lot of useful knowledge that will benefit me for years to come. This is like the Redpill of farming and where your food comes from
Very informative.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the last three/ four hours were basically a rant against the government, government organizations and the like. I also thought that many of the points were made from an American perspective. It didn't take away from the overall message just needed to think about how to apply it to your personal situation and area of residence
Highly recommend it if you're frequently asking yourself where the hell are we and where the hell are we going
Makes you realize how "abnormal" things are
