Action-packed from the start, Hidden Order demonstrates yet again why Brad Thor is the "master of thrillers". A string of high-profile kidnappings has Washington, D.C., in a frenzy. When the victims begin turning up dead, frenzy turns to panic. And when the ransom demand is finally made public, panic will turn to terror. In Brad Thor's riveting new thriller, the stakes have never been higher, nor the lines between good and evil so hard to discern.

Description
"The best thriller of the year...an exciting and entertaining read." (The Washington Times)
"A top-notch thriller." (Bill O'Reilly)
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor—a brilliant thriller as "current as tomorrow’s headlines."
Terrorism in Europe has spun out of control. The United States has decided on a dramatic response. Now, the CIA needs a very special kind of operative.
Scot Harvath has exactly the skills the CIA is looking for. He's a former U.S. Navy SEAL with extensive experience in espionage. Working for a private intelligence company, he will provide the CIA, and more important, the President, with absolute deniability.
But deep within the Russian Caucasus, Moscow also has its own special kind of operative. As a child, Sacha Baseyev endured an unimaginable horror. Today, he lives and breathes for only one reason—to kill. And he will kill as many Americans as it takes to accomplish his mission.
When a clandestine American operations team is ambushed near Syria, all signs point toward a dangerous informant in Brussels. But as Harvath searches for the man, he uncovers another actor—a rogue player hell-bent on forcing America's hand and drawing it into a confrontation deadlier than anyone could have imagined.
As the attacks mount, and terror is brought to the very doorstep of the White House, Harvath finds himself in the race of his life. From Vienna, Brussels, and Berlin, to Malta, Jordan, and Syria—he will push himself beyond the edge in order to confront one of the greatest evils the world has ever known.
Filled with action, intrigue, and edge-of-your-seat suspense, Foreign Agent is a nonstop thrill ride that reaffirms Thor's position as the "master of thrillers."

What just happened?!?
I have listened to every single Scott H. there is, so I was waiting for this book to come out, and I was nothing but disappointed. Please save yourself and just assume the series ended. This book was full of "typical" action one liners, and a horrible back story. They ruin the character for me and all of the "I know I can do this" one man army one liners were bad.
I feel bad about leaving the low rating for Armand, however I can't tell if he heightens the drama so the whole book seems likes its the heightened climax, or if the story is just that bad...
The plugs from Yeti?!? I mean I get it, nice coolers and cups, hopefully Brad Thor got a couple free ones from his buddies at Yeti, because the book seemed like it was written by a 12 year old writing his first action book and hoping to score a Yeti promo...
Don't waste your time, go back and read the earlier books

Great but lacking
This book is great, it really is & Thor is amazing at writing these thrillers. My only issue here is his nonsense views on Russia while simultaneously painting America as this heroic entity that exists for siding with everything right. If you've been keeping up with the goings on in Syria & the Mideast the past few years you would know this is a juvenile way of painting reality.
Aside from that though, awesome book, I smashed it out in three days. Can't wait for his next one.

DISAPPOINTING
I have all the Scot Harvath books and was awaiting this one, but it's boring. No new ideas or themes here. It jumps all over the place so much I stopped to investigate if I'd mistakenly purchased an abridged version or if others were complaining parts of the recording are missing. It was a chore to get through. Sadly, an epic fail.

Hard to follow with gaps in the story line.
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you enjoy missing parts and a lot of rewinding to relisten to try and figure out what you missed then yes, this book is for you.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
A nice addition to a long running series. However there is an issue at the end of chapter 22 and beginning of chapter 23 that I think plaques the over all story in general. At the end of Chapter 22 it ends with "surprise of his life." Then chapter 23 starts and you as a listener feel as though you missed an entire chapter. Rushed. It seems as though entire parts of the story were edited out and it seriously undermines the flow and continuity of the story. Good voice acting but I miss the older voice actor. The story just felt rushed with gaping wholes in the plot that left me feeling like I had missed chapters. It felt as though I was listening to an abridged version of the book.
Any additional comments?
The audio book was hard to follow because it seemed as though entire sections of the story are missing leaving me to rewind chapters to try an figure out how to follow the story. With no success I might add. At first I thought it was a corrupted audio file but nope.

Typical Brad Thor novel (absolutely great)!
The jihadists are bad, but no worse than the Russians. Rather than go into detail I'll just say that Brad Thor started the Scott Harvath series in 2002 with the incredibly outstanding The Lions of Lucerne and every tear since has released a new Harvath novel of equal quality. There have been no letdowns along the way. Foreign Agent is a must read page turner from one of the best!
In the end we are no longer left to wonder if Scott Harvath is going to follow his love for a woman and leave the Carlton Group to work directly for the CIA while living in Boston. Or will he still work for Reid Carlton while living in Boston.
Thor and narrator Armand Schulz now seem to be joined at the hip after so many audiobooks. However I want to recommend that Brad Thor go back to George Guidall as his narrator. Guidall narrated Scott Harvath series books #3 through #7. Schulz is very good, but Guidall's voice and pacing are much better for the series.

Lots of potential, but just plain average.
Great opening and initial build-up with a strong storyline. However, this was followed by a slow and uninspired attempt to build towards a climax. I found myself
simply wanting the book to end..
