Description

I've always hated her. She's always hated me. We've never been friends, just the best of enemies....

I've hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next-door neighbor and number-one sworn enemy - she's the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)

She snitched on me when I broke curfew. I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend. We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.

But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until living with her day after day became unbearable, and one passionate argument changed everything. Well, almost everything.

I've always hated her. She's always hated me. I'm not sure what the hell is happening, and I can't tell if we're still "enemies"....

Very well done!!

This was a funny and well narrated enemies to lovers book. Joe Arden and Erin were hilarious and had their usual chemistry. I love these two. Thank you Whitney G. for keeping them together in this story.
It was written differently than some of the some of the usual enemies to lovers stories due to some really funny letter writing. These characters met as kids; hated/liked each other starting from age 7 through college but it was channeled as anger and hate and the story took us back to their younger years when they first met and how they got together again during their college years.
Funny the parents knew they really liked each other.
There are some sad moments but not enough to fret over....the story was pretty light and tame as to their sexual chemistry but lots of references. Joe has his usual potty mouth that keeps you smiling.
They really kept in touch via letters but over time you found they didn't really hate each other and actually Ethan really looked out for her but you don't really know that until later in the story.
Well done all around, lots of laughing out loud and a good story. When these two narrators and author get together it's a winner for me. 😂😂

Laughed out loud! 5 Bright Stars!

Joe Arden was just PERFECT voicing Ethan, and Erin Mallon was the perfect counterpart.

I did laugh out loud right off the bat, and many more times after that. It got more serious as it progressed to their college years, but there was still humor in their love/hate banter.

They both put their feet in their mouths many times, but they learn to overcome all the obstacles.

The ending was nicely wrapped, with every conflict nicely resolved.

I do recommend this audiobook!

great read!

I started this book on a whim and was so glad I did! For such a short book but the plot was super cute and engaging that it didn’t matter. It felt longer! I’m beginning to believe I’ll just love any romance that’s a mix between old school memories and present ones. High school history is always my favorite but these characters lived next door to each other made this one even sweeter. Their banter and chemistry was petty but cute. They acted like they hated each other but the way they looked out for each other, they were actually more best friends than enemies. Anyways, loved! Whitney G writes great shorter length novels and the narrators she chooses for her audiobooks really bring the books to life!

Soooo Good

Both Joe and Erin were absolutely fantast as usual, I can usually get thru anything either of these two read regardless of storyline quality. But Forget you Ethan not only has great narrators but a wonderfully unique story too!! It held my attention the entire time, with just the right amount of angst and sexy times :) I typically do not like YA but even tho most of the book takes place while they are in college, these characters are not immature and did not annoy me at all lol

More for the young adult

this is for very young adults, narration was fantastic as you would expect but the content not very stimulating for the brain, very dull

THE BEST!!!

Author, narrators, and story, made this a winner in all respects. When I see this team, 99 times out of 100, I am going to love the listen! I actually chuckled out loud! I am not going in to details because I don't think I can without spoilers. I did listen twice; back-to-back, and both times I was glad I had bought the audible edition.

Forget you, Ethan

The story was really good. I thought Rachel was a little more geeky than necessary. The narrators were bad. Most especially the female, Erin Mallon. There was no feeling in her voice. Every single sentence ended with the same tone. Very irritating. The guy was pretty good though.

So cute. Glad I read this !!!

This was my fourth attempt at reading this book. I’m guessing I was in a weird mood the other three times I selected this title to listen to. Because I loved this so much and can’t figure out why I kept passing it over. I barely functioned and this was audio I had use of my hands and eyes lol. Ethan and Rachel prove that fighting is four-play. Their back and forth made my eyes leaking from laughter on several occasions. Especially when they got in the physical fight by the pool. I actually hit back a few seconds to make sure I knew what was happening but yeah they were pounding on each other mad as hatters. It was a short book but it was richly written. As the story progressed in current time little peaks back to their child hood explained the why of why are they still talking to each other at all. Annnnd the ending was cheesy but in the best of ways. So often I love a book but only like the ending or even hate it. But the way WG wrapped this up was perfect for who Rachel is. And continues to show that despite his massive ego and sometimes harsh words Ethan was a damn softy the whole time. I will be putting this on my read-em-again list. As always I love to listen to JA & EM they do great work.

Both narrators nailed it!

What I loved about this novel…
Wonderful characters / Witty / Childhood friends-enemies-turned-lovers / Easy-to-read / Highly entertaining / Old fashioned letter correspondence tradition Fantastic narrating pair / HEA

Collected in Dual Formats (Audible and Kindle) – Yes or No? Yes!

Writing style: Dual POVs

Cover and chapter designs: It’s perfect! I like how the notebook paper background ties into how they preferred to communicate. And, I love how the cover model’s gaze draws me in. It’s like he’s asking me with his gaze to lean in and kiss and tumble around with him on that bed. 😉

And, I love the fancy page and title markers! My eyeballs always appreciate the graphic extras in an e-book. ಌ

Ratings
Overall ★★★★★
Performances ★★★★★
Erin is one of my favorite narrators, and Joe was great. I really enjoyed their vocal acting choices for all of the characters.
Story ★★★★★
I’ll say straight up I’m not a huge enemies-turned-lovers fan at all, so I don’t flock to stories with that premise typically. However, I love this author’s writing style so much that I had complete confidence she’d win me over.

Ethan and Rachel’s childhood frenemies-turned-lovers story really made me wish I could’ve grown up with an Ethan as my childhood frenemy. I was rooting for them to figure out how they could transition into lovers the entire way. For me, that isn’t always the case with the enemy-turned-lovers trope depending on how the author writes it.
