À propos de cet audio

Ridmark Arban was once a Swordbearer, a knight of renown. Now he is a branded outcast, stripped of his sword, and despised as a traitor. But he alone sees the danger to come. Calliande awakens in the darkness, her memories gone, and creatures of terrible power hunting her. For she alone holds the secret that can save the world...or destroy it utterly. The secret of the Frostborn.

Jonathan Moeller offers a clever Fantasy story that blends R.A. Salvatore's D&D-flavored action, T.H. White's Arthurian legend, and a dash of Joe Abercrombie's 'First Law'-styled grittiness. An impromptu team of an honor-driven Orc warrior ('Karlakt'), a disgraced human Knight ('Ridmark'), a dwarven cleric ('Caius'), and a mysterious woman with no memory ('Calliande') confront a nigh-immortal evil Dark Elf using an Orc sorcerer-chieftain to resurrect a monstrous God. The plot is interesting, the characters are intriguing, and Moeller's description skills are impressive. The book is a little sophomoric at times, but thoroughly enjoyable relatively unchallenging fare.

As to presentation: Steven Crossley reads the book with impressive skill.. imperfect, but characterized by commendable diction, timbre, cadence, and tone - and praiseworthy voice-acting. The performance of the book is solidly "above-average".

Altogether, 'Frostborn: The Gray Knight' starts the ongoing Frostborn series nicely. I can see why fans of the series are loyal - and this 8/10 star effort sets the table. I am grateful to have found it on the 'Plus' menu.. because it would rate a Credit. I may come back to further books in the series when I'm looking for some Fantasy-fuelled fun, but my reading list is too extensive to do so now. Regardless, enjoy.
