Captivating Premise. Creditable Execution.

Ron Faust comes up with some of the most original story ideas that I have ever encountered. In this offering, he introduces professional baseball player/celebrity athlete 'Theodore "Teddy" Moon' - hilariously sarcastic, irreverent, and clearly hypomanic (racing thoughts with a randomly wandering mind). Moon is accused of murdering a series of Transsexuals in cities that his team visits.
Faust leads readers through an interesting story evolution - well-written, well-paced, and satisfyingly twisty-turny. To be certain, the tone of the book is far too lighthearted for the subject matter (almost jocular).. but the flaws are reasonably easy to overlook.

Fortuitously for audiobook afficianados, reader James Patrick Cronin turns in a similarly imperfect but memorable performance, too. His pacing is a little slow (listen at 1.15X for the best experience) - but his diction, timbre, cadence, and voice-acting are well above-average.

Altogether, I rate this recording of 'Fugitive Moon' 8 stars out of 10. It is perhaps a little quirky for some tastes - but it was easily worth my time as a 'Plus' selection. Even should they ask for a Credit, it will have earned it.
