The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness are aimed at younger teens but I still love them aged nearly-sixteen, and I don't think I'll outgrow them any times soon.

These books are wonderful examples of how children's books at their best are motored by brilliant, seamless plotting. There is no waste- everything is taut, clean, efficient... There is a beautifully realised sense of an organic culture depicted in these books, and good and evil are measured in relation to how much these characters respect their environment
I also love how well Ian can turn his voice into many other people without losing or forgetting their personalities or voices.
I am so happy this is no longer the end. That Viper's Daughter is next. More adventure awaits!
