I don't know if I can finish
It's about witches. Like, modern day witches who do magic. I was not expecting that. If witches are your thing, go for it, you might enjoy it. Probably not, though, because the writing is not good. Also, the author can't really write female characters. The lead female sets my teeth on edge. She has a bad case of the "aren't I cute and sassy's." The lead male is one dimensional. He goes from hardened skeptic and debunked to true believer in the Craft in two days. Without any cognitive dissonance. Or even feeling a little overwhelmed. Then there is the inevitable romance, which is cloying and hokey.
Actually, I think the best word for the story as a whole is hokey, in the worst way.
8 hours in, 6 to go, I had to quit. Life is to short to waste on books that, to put it bluntly, suck.
This is my very first Did Not Finish. It was that it irredeemable.
