Unvarnished truth
Excellent book ! Full of interesting facts but never boring ! Loved the performance too. Takes you back to those days our parents and grandparents called the good old days….they weren’t !

Interesting and detailed
Personally I find it extremely difficult to get into a book but this was a surprising exception!
From the first chapter I was drawn in and the story is so detailed and interesting it keeps you surprised and entertained! Amazing writing and the person voicing it is perfect for the story.

Fascinating Story
I couldn't stop listening. So well researched and gives a fair and clear portrayal of all involved. I will be listening to this one again.

loved it. the narrator was excellent, the story interesting. seems like times haven't changed much regarding police hounding petty criminals ,forcing them to give up on attaining a legal line of work

Tp-notch Jeff Guinn Bio--As Usul
I have read three other Jeff Guinn Books about famous or notorious people and found therm well-researched, informative, insightful, entertaining, and wonderfully well-written. Go Down Together is no exception. Jeff Guinn at his best--as usual.

This is a fantastic book - it's honestly hard to put down. The story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow is rightly celebrated.. for better or worse. They are mesmerizing individuals. The *romanticization* of genuinely horrible people (Billy The Kid, The James Gang, John Dillinger, etc.) by the American public is fascinating - but Jeff Guinn doesn't weigh in.. rather he presents an incredibly well-researched exposé of the upbringing, life events, and notorious crimes of a surprisingly relatable pair of Sociopaths. He's a little too sympathetic to these criminals, but the author merely presents a painstakingly accurate documentary and invites readers to draw their own conclusions. Guinn's ability to paint a picture of 1930s America and bring historical characters to life is outstanding. The writing in this thought-provoking book is impressive.
Then.. there's the narration. I actually found myself feeling bad for Jonathan Hogan. Another reviewer queried whether he had recently had surgery on his tongue or something - and that's spot-on. He has a speech impediment of some kind - garbling words, whistling, and lisping his way through all 16 hours of the text. Compounding the issue, he reads robotically and at a frustrating plodding pace. I sped the playback speed to 1.25X - which helped a little - and if you buy this audiobook, I strongly advise you to try the same. I hope the man got some help (or found a new job).
This is a 9.5/10 True Crime book, but legitimately horrific narration brings the merit down to 5.5/10. I bought it after a 'Daily Deal' offer, and the $7.50 I paid wasn't a total mistake.. but a Credit would be a waste.
