À propos de cet audio

By the early 1960s, Ford Motor Company, built to bring automobile transportation to the masses, was falling behind. Baby boomers were taking to the roads in droves, looking for speed not safety, style not comfort, and Ford didn’t offer what these young drivers wanted. Meanwhile, Enzo Ferrari lorded over the European racing scene, crafting beautiful, fast sports cars that epitomized style.

Baime tells the remarkable story of how Henry Ford II, with the help of a young visionary named Lee Iacocca and a former racing champion turned engineer named Carroll Shelby, concocted a scheme to reinvent the Ford company. They would enter the high-stakes world of European car racing, where an adventurous few threw safety and sanity to the wind. They would design, build, and race a car that could beat Ferrari at his own game, at the most prestigious and dangerous race in the world, the 24 Hours of LeMans.

Go Like Hell transports readers to a golden era in racing when Ford’s innovative strategy led to victories on the track and renewed respect for the American automobile.

I've read/heard the story a few times. almost always covering predominantly the Ford side. It was nice to hear some more from the Ferrari and Shelby sides. Even some of the individual drivers sides. I feel I learned a lot more of the story. Narrator was great.

Great version of the story.

This audio book was highly recommended and I now know why. I didn’t want to stop listening and was disappointed when it was finished.

Fantastic history lesson

the performer mispronounces every foreign phrase possible and reads in a cheezy stereotypical accent in French, German and eyetalian.
Its so bad it is insulting to Italians.
He literally fakes his way through the whole book.

horrible performance ruins a great book

I'm not very into cars but enjoyed this a lot. the narrator sounds like a robot at times but I've also heard much worse

If you love cars and speed and care what happened in the early 1900s, up to the 60s, this book could be for you. I do my utmost to always finish a book once I’ve started it. This was a slog. I was glad when it was over.

Content: cars, speed, innumerable names
