Faith is definitely very important! I was a Registered Nurse, I observed patients who died peacefully if they had a strong personal religious belief in God, no matter what church they belonged to...
I also noticed that those who were agnostics or atheists, especially those who treated others in anger, not only were afraid when dying but became violent and apparently hallucinating that a large black snake trying to take them.
I myself have a strong faith in an Omincient, Omnipotent and Eternal God, who knows us all, including our very thoughts!
I have experienced miracles in my life which can't be explained by science.
One night, I seen a tall semi-transparent male, wearing a long white robe, who told me, " Im here to help you because you are dying..." He communicated to me in my thoughts and told me that he was with me all my life. He also brought to my memory that he helped me when I had Rhumatic Fever at six and seven.
I almost died as my heart had been inflamed 3 times it's size and damaged my Mitral Valve to this day.
He helped me up from my bed and it felt to me as if I was floating.I was taken to my snack storage shelves.He told me, "Now take 3 juice boxes and two granola bars and I will help you to your kitchen table."
I seriously thought that I was dreaming as it felt surreal. Then while sitting at my table, he said, "Drink the juice boxes first and then the granola bars, and I stay with you till you're ok..."
Then when I came to myself, I found myself sitting at my table with those snacks all empty! I checked with my blood sugar levels and my sensor read 2 for five hours!
Later that same morning, I went to see my doctor and showed him my sensor readings, and gasped, "How is it that you're still here? You should have died with blood sugar levels that low!"
I related to him that an angel saved my life and had helped me. He was seriously surprised and consented, "Spiritually is something that is definitely unexplainable!"
I seriously enjoyed listening your book and agree with many of the concepts you covered in your book!

Newberg has a refreshingly wide knowledge of many spiritual and religious traditions. As a scientist, he well understands the scientific method and its limitations. He expresses himself clearly and in plain, everyday language. There is some really valuable information here for folks who are interested in exploring the intersections of science and spiritual belief systems. At times, though, I felt like I was being spoonfed information that seemed obvious and self-evident. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more stories to illustrate the points being made. Also, as someone interested in this topic I feel like there was a lot more research he could have drawn on to illustrate his points. Honestly, I didn't take that much new information away with me but for someone who is new to the topic, this book could be a treasure trove of novel and exciting ideas. I most appreciated his open-heartedness and sense of fairness to the variety of belief systems people operate with.
