À propos de cet audio
The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller! “Good Spirits is an absolute knockout. A new Borison book feels like coming home in the best way. She's truly in a league of her own.” — Hannah Grace, New York Times bestselling author of Icebreaker
The USA Today bestselling author of Business Casual, B.K. Borison is back with a whimsical new holiday romance—this time with a magical twist—that will have everyone falling in love with the Ghost of Christmas Past.
He’s the Ghost of Christmas Past. She’s not exactly Scrooge.
Ghost of Christmas Past Nolan Callahan intends to spend this holiday haunting like every other—get in, get out, return to his otherwise aimless existence as a ghost awaiting the afterlife. But when he’s faced with Harriet York, the sweetest assignment he’s ever had, he suddenly finds himself wishing for a future.
Harriet York has no idea why she’s being haunted. She’s a good person—or, at least, she tries to be. A people pleaser to her core, she always does what’s expected of her. But as she and Nolan begin to examine her past, they discover there are threads that bind them together— and realize there might be more to moving on than expected.
With the deadline of Christmas Eve fast approaching, will they find the key to their futures in each other’s pasts? Or will they stay firmly in the present, indulging in their unexpected, spirited connection?

Initially, the first 50% of this book was slow going for me. I was physically reading it, and while I was enjoying it, I didn’t feel particularly hooked or find myself eager to keep picking it up. I decided to switch to the audiobook after repeatedly hearing people rave about it—and that turned out to be the right call. I restarted from chapter one and absolutely fell in love, finishing the audiobook in essentially one sitting. It did not disappoint.
I want to be clear that this rating reflects my experience with the audiobook specifically. Had I pushed through and finished the book only in physical format, my rating likely would have landed closer to a four-star.
At its core, Good Spirits is a Christmas story through and through, very much in the spirit of A Christmas Carol—with reflections on the past, emotional reckonings, and the quiet magic of the season. If I could only read one Christmas book in December, I’d be completely content if it were this one. The atmosphere is immaculate: cozy, wintry, festive, and steeped in holiday warmth. The tone, the setting, the vibes—it was all on point.
If I had to describe this romance in one word, it would be sweet. Truly and utterly sweet.
Nolan and Harriet are such genuine, lovable characters. I loved them as individuals, and I loved them together. I became completely invested in their journey.
This is also very much a slow-burn romance, and a spicy slow burn at that. The buildup takes its time, but when the story finally delivers on the spice, the payoff is extremely satisfying. It felt earned, emotionally grounded, and well-timed rather than rushed or gratuitous, which made those moments land even better for me.
I really enjoyed the writing style and appreciated getting dual POV. The delivery made me feel giddy, warm, and genuinely happy for them. When they finally had their first kiss, I found myself literally cheering for them—lol. I also wasn’t expecting this book to make me cry at all, and yet it made me cry four different times. The ending, in particular, really got me.
This story is filled with sweet, heartfelt moments—the kind that make you smile, sigh, and quietly “aww” to yourself. It’s also genuinely funny. I laughed out loud more than once, and the humor worked beautifully for me. It made me happy. It made me feel good. The balance between emotional sincerity and lightness was just right.
At its heart, Good Spirits is a story about two people finding each other and helping one another grow into stronger, better versions of themselves. It’s gentle, emotionally kind, heartfelt, and deeply sincere. Highly recommend.
