I loved this one!
I loved this novel by Brian Freeman! The well-rounded characters were likable - or not - and told great stories. It was nice to be set in the summer for a change, instead of in the incessant tortuous winter! The development of the characters in the protagonist's life was lovely. Again, unfortunately, the only downer and the reason for the 4/5 stars for performance is narrator Joe Barrett's weird pronunciation of words that editors are not catching (e.g. "short-līved" instead of the short 'i' in -lived; and "pooch" instead of pouch when referring to Cat's pregnancy bump). They did not detract from the story; they were just distracting irritations. This story was so enjoyable that I'm going on to the next in Freeman's Jonathan Stride series available in Canada, Funeral for a Friend.

Loved the unique format of this book in the series
If you are a Jonathan Stride series follower, I think you will love this one. A wonderful storyline and format to get to know some of the characters.
