Guided imagery is a safe, effective mind-body technique that consists of healing words and hypnotic images, set to soothing music, to provide help to survivors of traumatic events. Repeated listening once or twice a day for two to three weeks ensures maximum impact.
Written and narrated by noted PTSD expert and guided imagery pioneer Belleruth Naparstek and scored to the exquisite, immersive music of Steven Mark Kohn, this Health Journeys™ guided imagery CD set for PTSD was produced by the Cleveland Orchestra's sound engineer, Bruce Gigax.
For the first phase, when a sense of safety and control needs to be reestablished, the program offers three guided meditations for PTSD in order to install powerful self-soothing skills to use when triggered by flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive thoughts: Imagery for Protection & Support, a Walking Meditation and Imagery for Restful Sleep.
