À propos de cet audio
New York Times bestseller
One of my dad’s favorite jokes about getting older was: “I went out for coffee when I was twenty-one and when I got back I was fifty-eight!”
I get what he meant now. Time flies. My first book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor, was published back in 2001 and it chronicles the adventures of a “mid-grade, kind of hammy actor" (my words), cutting his teeth on exploitation movies far removed from mainstream Hollywood.
This next book, an “Act II” if you will, could be considered my “maturing years” in show business, when I began to say “no” more often and gravitated toward self-generated material. Taking stock in the overall quality of my life, I fled Los Angeles and moved to a remote part of Oregon to renew, regroup and reload.
If that sounds tame, the journey from Evil Dead to Spider-Man to Burn Notice was long, with plenty of adventures/mishaps along the way. I never pictured myself hovering above Baghdad in a Blackhawk helicopter, facing a pack of wild dogs in Bulgaria, or playing an aging Elvis Presley with cancer on his penis - how can you predict this stuff? The sheer lunacy of show business is part of the fun for me and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

Some of the confessions really are just that. Unlike most people, Bruce doesn't always paint himself in a glowing light and it is refreshing and interesting even when you might sometimes think "he can be a bit of a jerk sometimes!" We are all jerks now and then, and it's nice to hear someone self aware enough and confident enough to go ahead an put their own less than perfect moments out there. It brings him into reality that much more and makes it all seem a bit more intimate and relatable.
Behind the scenes anecdotes for several of his films and his TV shows Burn Notice and Ash VS Evil Dead are here as well as behind the curtain of the Con circuit.
As an audio book, Campbell does not disappoint. It is easy to forget sometimes that he is even reading a book at all, especially given the (perhaps mundane) details of his life in the mountains of Oregon. It was a lot like listening to anyone talk about their past. When it comes to sections on touring a war zone or his run ins with living legends, Bruce virtually lights up, seeming to relive what he is reading. He even throws in one or two tidbits that are not in the book.
If you enjoyed his last bio, and weren't in it just for Evil Dead, you will probably enjoy this one too. It's a bit soft in the second quarter, but it was certainly worth the time.
More Bruce!

Being a fan of most everything I have seen Bruce Campbell in I figured I might enjoy this work. I will admit when it first started, I started to have second thoughts about that. It didn't take long for those doubts to disappear and I settled into an awesome listening session to part 2 of 3 of the Bruce Campbell life trilogy.
This book was presented and read spectacularly by Bruce. The story was engaging as is Bruce's style. If you are a fan of his works or just want to hear a really interesting story, I definitely recommend picking this book. A 4.25 star listen.
