Description
From the author of the “full-throttle thriller” (A. J. Finn) No Exit - a riveting new psychological pause-resister featuring a fierce and unforgettable heroine.
Three months ago, Lena Nguyen’s estranged twin sister, Cambry, drove to a remote bridge seventy miles outside of Missoula, Montana, and jumped two hundred feet to her death. At least, that is the official police version.
But Lena isn’t buying it.
Now she’s come to that very bridge, driving her dead twin’s car and armed with a cassette recorder, determined to find out what really happened by interviewing the highway patrolman who allegedly discovered her sister’s body.
Corporal Raymond Raycevic has agreed to meet Lena at the scene. He is sympathetic, forthright, and professional. But his story still seems a bit off. For one thing, he stopped Cambry for speeding just an hour before she supposedly leaped to her death. Then there are the sixteen attempted 911 calls from her cell phone, made in what was unfortunately a dead zone.
But perhaps most troubling of all, the state trooper is referred to by name in Cambry’s final enigmatic text to her sister: Please Forgive Me. Lena will do anything to uncover the truth. But as her twin’s final hours come into focus, Lena’s search turns into a harrowing tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival - one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister and herself....

Bad narrator
Both narrators have slightly distracting vocal characteristics, but Lulu Lam was a very bad choice for this book. She is very clearly not telling, or even reading a story, she's just saying the words with the strange, inappropriate cadence and enunciation that comes with concentrating on your own voice instead of telling the story. She reads her segments like she's reading a bedtime story to a child, and it was actually hard to follow along because of how disconnected her reading was from the story. Maybe read the hard copy of this one instead.

Disturbing and violent
I was interested for 5.5 hours until it all turned so violent and disturbing. The whole story is twisted, disturbing. The violence is gratuitous. I can't remember how many bullets were fired in an hours long gunfight that repeatedly strained credulity. People got shot in the face then were oddly resurrected. Even the snake got shot. Book included descriptions of killing a toddler and slicing the throat of an animal. This just didn't qualify in any way as entertainment for me. The author is clearly talented at writing. Not so much at story telling.

Taylor Adams Strikes Again!
Adams has written 3 of the most suspenseful novels I've ever read. No Exit and Eye Shot were phenomenal. I wish he had more titles to read. He is able to have me on the edge of my seat, calling out at characters, and gasping as the plots twist and turn.
Hairpin Bridge followed his other two which were 5 star ratings for me - especially No Exit.
I listened to this one on audio and couldn't quite connect to the voices used. As always, the story by Adams was one hell of a ride!!

Odd and not in an interesting way.
I have no idea why I finished it, maybe because of rain. It never got better.

Not that great.
Too much detail in trying to make it suspenseful . I kept thinking “hurry up for goodness sake! Get to the point!!

Excellent narration
This book kept me engaged during hours of driving and I loved the plot. My book group chose this book for our July read and they really enjoyed it.

Needs a TW for child and animal violence
Listen, the story was okay, but it made me weep because of the description of what happened to that little boy and his mother. Nope.

Disappointment
I read No Exit and was hoping that this book would be just as good however the first 80% of the book was awful and I found my self just trying to get through it. I almost stopped reading entirely but felt invested. It got slightly better at the end but overall it was definitely not as good.

Boring and Monotonous
Maybe this story could've been better if it just didn't drag on like it did. It felt like a short story idea that got turned into a full-length novel. But, unfortunately, there wasn't enough of the original story to justify 300 pages. So, 170 pages worth of filler and banter. IDK. I didn't like it.
