À propos de cet audio

Living a fulfilling life may seem like an unachievable dream in today's distraction-ridden and pressuring society. We all yearn to look back to find we lived a life of significance—and that's still attainable.

New York Times bestselling author, Rachel Macy Stafford, develops nine life-changing habits that will help you focus on investing in the most significant parts of your life. As your hands, heart, and eyes become open, you will experience a new sense of urgency—not an urgency to compete, but an urgency to live, love, dream, connect, create, forgive, and flourish despite the challenges of our culture. You'll be inspired to adopt mindful daily practices and new thought-processes that will help you:

  • Make meaningful, lasting human connections despite the busyness of everyday life.
  • Live in the now despite that inner nudge pushing you out of the moment toward perfection and productivity.
  • Protect your most sacred relationships, as well as your values, beliefs, health, and happiness, despite the latent dangers of technology and social media.
  • Pursue the passions of your heart without sacrificing your job or your daily responsibilities.
  • Evaluate your daily choices to insure you are investing in a life that matters to you.

With a Hands Free Life perspective, you'll have the power to look back and see that you didn't just manage life, you actually lived it—and lived it well.

A Mother's Experience in it's Truest Form

Unlike other self-help books and parenting guides, 'Hands Free Life" stands out as it is neither the story of some who has lived a remarkably challenging or extraordinary life. In fact, quite the opposite is true, as the author is by all means a very ordinary homemaker. What keeps the book from being dull in this sense is the authors confessions and honesty of her shortcomings as a parent, wife, and friend. The book is driven by relatable short stories of her children, mixed with lessons she learned from these stories and daily declarations she hopes readers can adopt to improve their life.

The 'Hand Free Life' motto is presented well by the author, and through strong Christian undertones, makes a reasonable argument as to why we should cuddle our children often, and avoid criticizing them at all costs (a very unique argument to the new generation of parents). Though I applaud the authors request for us to put down technology and live more family-oriented lives, I felt her view of the world was very narrow at times, and she tended to overlook some cultural sensitivities. Disclaimer: I am not a parent, but felt this book had some good lessons for a variety of relationships.

I am also interested to see how the authors views of her children change as they age, being young and cute now, will her hands free motto hold up into adolescence?

Repetitive. More a diary than lesson.

This book feels like a rewrite of the author’s other books. It’s not a Parent book to help you, more a diary of a Martha Stewart mom with young girly girls. So painful. Luckily it’s read slow and you can actually finish it in a few hours.
