I was skeptical when I saw yet another Harry Potter edition, but they truly pulled it off! This is the best performance of this amazing story I’ve heard so far. I’m already looking forward to the next full-cast book of this edition!

The performances in this first-in-the-series new audiobook version are fantastic. From Hugh Laurie and Michelle Gomez to the golden trio Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester and Arabella Statnon to Mark Addy and all the rest - brilliant performances. Cush Jumbo is an amazing narrator who truly brings the story to life in and around the characters. There is one BIG drawback however, the post production leaves a lot to be desired. While all the sound effects and music do add to the storytelling, about 25% of the time they overpower the voices and parts of the story are missed as a result. I hope the rest of the series will take this into consideration.

Love the full cast, as a die hard Jim Dale version fan, this is a welcome addition. I thought it was just me but lots of people commenting on the mix and I agree, the background sounds and additional sound effects are way too loud and over power the voices. I almost always listen on a speaker or in the car and struggle to hear the voices clearly. Please, please remix the sound!

I was really hoping for a “movie in your mind” style full-cast performance, but this turned out to be more of a traditional reading with each actor voicing their part. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but still an enjoyable listen.

My family loved this first installment of the full cast audiobooks. It reminds me of old radio dramas and read-along records that used to be so common. I will always love the Stephen Fry audiobooks but this is a wonderful addition to the options for readers who want a little extra magic in the experience.
